It is not likely the protective order covers entry to the US - am not even certain one can get that strong a protective order. Usually it covers a certain distance (50 feet, 100 feet etc., from the person being 'protected.'

A protective order in the general sense, is a specific "barrier" between two people. However, it can apply to households. In your case, it will not be applicable, as this is a "locally issued" state level order.

Guess in my state, more familiar with a restraining then a protective order, but the mean about the same, a civil action, meaning you have to go to court to get one.

Easy to get, I got one on my ex wife when in the process of making unreasonable demands on my that I quietly wouldn't comply with, she slugged me, proved useful in our divorce in helping me get full custody of my kids, but wasn't really necessary, could have flattened her with one small punch. More severe cases deal with an adult physically or sexually abusing a child. Is your new wife a threat to your old one? Is her old one threatening her? Your new wife could get a protective order on your old wife, fair is fair. Just gives you the right to call the police if that person comes around even before they do anything.

Ha, in my case, get hurt in an accident, wife runs to a man hating attorney, gets an instant legal separation court order, then comes over to harass me, that restraining order I was able to get backfired on her. Is your new wife really a threat to your ex? Or is your ex trying to get even with you? Legal games I call them. Protective orders to have time limitations, should learn more about yours.
