I am having our interview in 3 days. Exciting!

We are wondering do they give out I 551 for approved case? Is it something we need to ask? We will bring our flight ticket to the interview hope that would help.

We are traveling oversea a week after our interview. If we got I551 stamp, is that mean I don't need any AP to travel?

Good question. The wife and I had our interview in Chicago the week of Thanksgiving. We were approved but did NOT get the stamp. We are also planning on going to the UK on the 22nd of this month. I set up an info pass appointment on December 19th in case we don't get her green card.

I was told that the AP document is void once you are approved for the green card.

You can not use the AP once you are approved for AOS. Most offices take the AP and EAD from you at the interview if you are approved. All you can do is take the evidence of your impending travel and ask for the I-551 stamp.

If you get the I-551 stamp in your passport then that is all you need to re-enter the USA as it acts as a temp Greencard.

good luck for your interview and your up coming trip.

Related question: Is this something we can make an infopass appointment for if my husband's AOS is approved between now and Christmas (when we are planning to go to Calgary)? We were transferred to CSC. Although we may or may not be approved before then (which means it may or may not be an issue), I know this is or will be an issue for at least a few people with timelines similar to ours.

Yes you can make an infopass appointment and ask for the I-551 stamp if you are approved and have travel plans before you are likely to recieve your Greencard.

Just make sure you take evidence of your approval and evidence of your impending travel.

Thank you, Tay. I am going to link this thread in the August AOS filers thread because this question has come up a lot there.

Now I'm just hoping they don't approve us WHILE we are in Calgary.
