Toronto Pearson POE

My Toronto Pearson POE experience last thursday was quick and hassles free. We wet to the airport early and checked in at the ticket agent. Got our boarding pass and baggages tagged for check in. My husband had filled up the immigration form ahead of time so upon showing our boarding pass to security we we're in to line up for immigration. Surprisingly there's only few travelers that time and we did not have to wait in line as by the time we reached the end of the line it was our turn to face the officer. I gave the officer our passport and showed her the envelope sent from Montreal with the label do not open, she then checked our passports even though my husband and son's we're US passport and placed all our passport and the envelope in a plastic yellow file envelope and we were told to proceed. As we present the custom and immigration form behind the officers booth we were directed to go into the secondary check where I gave the documents the officer in charge at the desk. She and another male officer opened my envelope and asked my husband and son to wait in the waiting area on the side. Then the male officer had my right index fingerprint on a form and had me signed at the bottom of the fingerprint. He then asked me to sit and wait, then in 5 minutes he called me and he then told me some guidelines like my card will be sent by mail and while waiting for it the visa on my passport is valid for one year from the date stamped on it as I first enter the US. He then said that staying half a year in the US and half year elsewhere is not what is required as a resident but full residency in the US. He then said that I can be stopped in the US and asked for proof of residency and if I fail to present my greencard which according to him I should carry all the time, I will be fined. After he said welcome to the United States. And pointed us to the exit so we can proceed and wait for our flight at the gate. I took us 15 minutes at most.
