I called DOS, feeling pretty optimistic as I haven't bugged them since getting fwd email that London had requested the police cert from Holland on the 26 of Nov. (And yes, I know from the tables this can take 15+ days to get back to London. )

The lady who answered (really quick! no waiting today!) pulled the case up and said nothing new has been entered into the system since the RFE in August.

Wondering if I should bug the congressional aide again - or if he has put it away as according to the emails he did his job and got it moving again. Or just try to be patient and wait as the email said:

Thank you for your email and for providing the information the Immigrant Visa Unit requires in order to request the Netherlands police certificate. The Immigrant Visa Unit has now requested the certificate on Mr. XXXXX's behalf and he will be notified once it is received in the Embassy.

I hope this is responsive to your inquiry.

They could just google him and get his life history! (Guilty of doing that myself one day when missing him in the worst way!) AARRGGGHH!

Any advice? I just want to know what is going on and IF there is a possibilty of him getting an interview THIS year or not!

I doubt you will get an interview this month.

Thanks - guess I was just playing the misery loves company game. As we started this journey in March, I was hoping it would be completed by now.

But this too shall pass, and I will pull up my boot straps and deal with it!

Sometimes just knowing how long it's likely to take, makes it easier to have the patience required. You can look up the timelines of other people going through the process on this website which I found very helpful at one time. Also if you go to the UK interview thread, you can see those who have interviews coming up, and then look at their signatures (if they have their timeline info there) or their timelines. That works as an easy way to guage how long it's taking to get packet 4, and have the interview scheduled.

Unfortunately this is what caused my momentary lapse in reason!

As I filed the petition at the beginning of March and the NVC forwarded the approved petition to London at the beginning of June, everyone around my timeline is through all their hoops and beginning their lives together!

Due to a lost post in August, we are behind by 4 months. My fiancee did not realize he should have gotten a receipt for the RFE and assumed all was well. It was when I found this web site in November and the timelines of others that I called the attorney, (who also thought it was okay that it was taking forever) and failing to get an actual case status from her, I contacted the local Senator's office. It was through them I found out what the embassy was missing and that they were waiting on us. :bonk:

We supplied the necessary information through congressional channels as well as sending the hard copy through registered post at the end of November.

According to the information posted on the travel.gov web site, this is the week that the embassy should have the reply from their inquiry to the Netherlands.

I have a sinking feeling this delay has set us to the back of the list, :crying: and can find no similar situation in the threads. I wouldn't wish this on any others, but at the same time am hoping to locate and learn from the wisdom of anothers experience.

Why didn't you apply for the Netherland PCC yourself? Would that not have been quicker?

well if this is the week that the cert should come from the Netherlands, then you should probably not expect your next corresspondance from the embassy till after the christmas period. From watching the timelines like a hawk last year, activity went down significantly during this time, fewer people getting packets, fewer interviews. Must be people taking time off around the holidays or something.

Yes, this is what I was afraid of. And I am blue as I will not be able to make the trip over to see him for New Years Day as I had planned. Nor is he able to come over here since he was denied the special circumstance visa over a year ago (not enough ties) and is sure they will not change their ruling even though he has established a bank account and employment in the UK. Due to a miscommunication, he overstayed the J-1 visa by 6 weeks in 2006. I want him to try again, as he has met the 2 year residency requirement, but he is afraid they will once again say no and it may effect our fiancee petition. Not to mention the fact that I may kidnap him were he to enter this country as a visitor and open a whole new can of worms!

Thanks for your replies - I will find the patience somewhere and all will be good one day soon!

Look at how long it's taken us.

Similar circumstances--lost in the post, problems with police report that were not his fault. Yours seems even worse because it's in the Holland, at least ours was all in the UK. Lost in the UK--LOL.

If I had to guess, it will all come together after the new year begins. Should be smooth sailing then but I know (believe me I KNOW) how agonizing the waiting is and how you don't get much comfort from seeing others approved long ahead of you.

In the end Love will triumph and you will be together.

Thank you so much - I must have missed your timeline in my search, it would have given me the hope I needed, as you have today.

So glad to see the interview was today!!! Congratulations!

My small comfort is we talk 2 or 3 times a day and he is always my source of strength with this visa game. The holidays tend to cause a blue note for all of us though, and you are right and we must remember Love will triumph!

I am counting my lucky stars today, that I was lucky enough to find my soulmate at this stage in my life should lighten even the darkest corners!
