Good day all VJer's,

Im preparing to file a petition to bring my foreign national husband to U.S. to join me. Filing at VSC, and would like to know which petition is the fastest to file , a K3 or a CR-1 petition? Any thoughts. And of course, like all of you's , want the fastest petition to be filed.

We have been married over a year, and have all proof of a true marriage.

Thank you for your assistance and comments.

Good luck to you all, and may we all be with our loved ones so many miles from us and our Hearts. (L)

Welcome to VJ,

THe fastest could be the K3, but it is also the most expensive at over $1400 and has many disadvantages once your loved one reaches American soil. The CR-1 for marriage under 2 years, or the IR-1 for marriage over two years at the time of interview is the best visa for married couples, and the least expensive at around $825. Read the guides under the VisaJourney.com headline to familiarize yourself with which may work best for you. The approval time on these type of visas are not that far apart.

Good luck which every road you chose to travel.

Janet

You must file both the I-130 and I-129F petitions so if you do have a preference it will not be evident until after approvals as far as time goes. I would recommend filing both at the same time. When the I-129F priority date comes current the I-130 should also be processed at the same time thus getting approvals at the same time from USCIS. Using the shortcuts in wiki you can have your I-130 out of NVC in a few weeks which would not be far behind the I-129F. Saving money...the I-130 would be your best bet and possibly only a few weeks longer.

Okay, thank you, I have thought of sending both petitions at same time, "seen that many times done" Its going to be one of those things, send in petitions and wait. Nothing else can be done. Especialy with VSC, waiting is the name of the game with VSC, waiting is the hardest part.

Thank you!!

The statement in bold above is incorrect. You are not required to file two petitions. You may simply file the I-130 petition and follow the CR1 or IR1 path. K3 is an option, not a requirement. If your spouse would rather work soon after arrival instead of sitting around for months without authorization, K3 is not for you.

Got it!! Will have to go with best petition to file, and carefully analize the difference of the two Visas, pros and cons of each.

Thanks again everyone, Going to be another whirling adventure with VSC.
