When we were going though the process, we never received packet 3 even though they kept insisting that they had sent it. So I think it would be smart to not wait on it but rather just download it off the consulate web site.

Yes, I believe that you can drop off the packet 3 personally at the consulate. That is what the consulate had told us when we had called to inquire about courier service. I think there were some posts here as well about people dropping the packet at consulate personally. If I remember it right, you have to show your passport at the window for them to accept the packet.

Can the packet 3 be downloaded and personally dropped off in Mumbai Embassy as soon as they receive my case?

Just to understand...What is the benefit of going personally to the consulate to drop off the Packet 3? Is it to save the time mailing Packet 3 and to eliminate the risk of it getting lost in the mail?

Wifey is going to the Embassy tomorrow to drop off packet 3...willl let you all know.

Exactly. We have changed our minds since my wife feels that there is a reliable courier service in Gujarat that will deliver the packet 3 overnight to the Embassy. It turns out that the lines for the information desk at the Embassy are huge. No sense in waiting in that line if we can overnight it.

I and my wife both are from Valsad....a shorter trip to Mumbai, but not worth it for packet 3

Hey,

Does the petitioner (Me in the US) receive packet 3 in the mail or does the beneficiary (my wife in India)?

Once your case reaches the Consulate (the petition part is over, so your part is over), its the beneficiary who gets the pkts as its your wife who will have the interview (she will be filling out the forms for her visa application now)
