First, I want to say thank you to all those who responded. Well, i don't know yet if i am positive or negative. But I am sure I am negative. I just want to be sure also before doing the medical test. I know this is a sensitive issue. But as we all know HIV is widely spread in the Philippines now so when I saw it on the tv last week I got curious and wanted to be tested now so my anxiety will be alleviated rather than being so nervous at the SLEC while they are extracting my blood. Coz as we all know it's part of the test. Maybe you haven't seen any threads like mine here but I just want to know also if someone had a pre-screen test which is what I am planning to do now.

I sincerely hope that you're just paranoid regarding the matter. And sorry, I don't know anyone who had a pre-screen test specifically for the USEM medical exam. But I must admit though that I had an HIV test earlier last year prior to my medical exam. Is that good enough for you? :)

Yes, to be honest I am very paranoid because as what i've read in every case being positive to that is the most serious case to be denied. And of course I want to be with my fiance. Where did you had your test and how much was it?

It was my health card that shouldered the bill and I forgot the name of the clinic but it was in Manila. Anyway, here's a good link as it lists all the DOH accredited centers including the major hospitals in Manila. (I've posted this earlier.)

If I were you, I wouldn't be paranoid. Had drug/STD/HIV tests several times before. :)

I wouldn't order a home test. I would have it done in a clinic or hospital, at least you know it would be done properly.

So home test isn't reliable?

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

It's just like a blood sugar test kit. The real issue there is the avoidance of counseling and failing to report the result to medical authorities if found positive. HIV/AIDS is not only a medical disease but also a social disease. That is why it's sale is being banned by the medical authorities. It is the new leprosy of modern society.

To give you an idea of a homekit, see the link.

Take note at the bottom of the page, it says: We're sorry but this test is currently unavailable

Thats right. If infected, counseling is a must. The proper medical authorities can direct you to the center where you can seek help.

I still have doubts about the home test. If you do a home test and it says positive... im sure you want a proper test in a trusted hospital for confirmation. Might as well do the latter, saves time, money and unfounded worry.

Denial should never be the issue. It's living with the disease. Always remember that. :)

It's more like a home pregnancy test, if positive you should go to your nearest doctor. But then again counseling is important. That's why it's being banned. Infected people will just forget about the disease and even help further spread the disease.

So home test isn't reliable?

I would rather go to a hospital where they are clued up on drawing blood etc. Home tests are banned in the UK and I believe in most other countries too. Plus, why pay when you can get it for free at the hospital.

From the BBC,

''HIV expert Professor Jonathon Weeber has his doubts about the accuracy of the self test kits.

'They are not as accurate as the tests we can do in a laboratory, so there could be a false negative or a false positive,' he said.

'You'd have to be pretty familiar with test tubes and things to be able to do this quickly. They're not easy to deal with, and I think would be very difficult to use accurately.'

It is illegal to sell the kits in Britain because the government thinks everyone having an HIV test should get counselling to help them deal with the consequences.''
