Below are other links regarding HIV and immigration/travel to the US. It's not exactly exciting news but it's best that you are informed as well. If having a pre-test should lessen your apprehensions, costs of testing should be the least of your concerns. What is more important are the ramifications afterwards if proven positive and the next steps involved in coping.

If positive migrating to the US should be the least of the concerns because a waiver is next to impossible. (See the links I've posted earlier.) Second, coping up should have more weight as HIV/AIDS is incurable at the moment. And while it may be true that meds are available for treatment for the accelaration of HIV to full-blown AIDS, needless to say they don't come in cheap.

But I again do pray that yours is only an unwarranted concern and eventually everything would be fine.

I know a story wherein she was tested HIV positive at SLEC. But then again, it was the USC fiancee who gave it to her. So a waiver is still impossible?

I only mentioned that that it is next to impossible meaning that there is still a possibility of getting a waiver no matter how slim the chances are. But given the situation, one should set first priorities as this is a life threatening disease which is incurable. One must assess the next steps involved which includes what medical precautions or procedures are necessary and guidance on how to cope with your life with HIV/AIDS. These two transcend not only the initial aim of migrating but even transcend the relationship itself. And while this may be sad, it does not mean that the relationship should end at this end. In fact it should strengthen the relationship albeit it has its own set of drawbacks which are for lack of a better term rather complicated.

This is a matter both fiancees should deal with. As to who gave what to who becomes moot if found positive. What is important is the fact that at least one is positive and the other on may as well be positive too for HIV. The next steps for dealing with life with HIV should be taken seriously.

Emotions aside, there is no reason to pursue K1? As the foreign fiance will not be allowed to enter US? Ive read the links posted above... but im wondering if theres ever a case where they allowed a waiver.

If indeed there was a such case, the fact remains the same - you still have HIV and it is incurable and you have to deal with it - K1 or no K1.

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.
