Is there anyone here who test themselves first for HIV before having their medical exam at SLMEC? If you did? where did you have it here in the Philippines and how much? I want to be sure that i will be ok with my medical exam. Any help from my kababayan's is very much appreciated.

Why bother? There is do definite cure yet. St. Luke's in QC can also do the testing. Don't know about the rates though. They also offer counselling which IMO is more important. As long as you haven't done anything that can risk HIV, you shouldn't be worried about it.

It is not right to judge me if you don't know me. I just want to know if where should I get tested before proceeding to my medical. We all had our past relationships before and want the best for our lives now. I want to ask the people here if they do a pre-screening before their medical exam. Of course, not only hiv but all the test. It's just that its hard to find a cheap hiv tester. So im wondering if anyone here did a pre-screening of all the test including hiv?

Much better to get tested for TB as you can start treatment if positive and not lose as much time. Good idea for HIV also as you can start the waiver process if positive.

My wife and daughter did the TB test soon after she excepted my proposal.

We all had our hundreds of past relationships with people passing through town before and want the best for our lives now. Go to the free clinic and get the 20-minute, swab-under-the-tongue test.

IMO, it won't make a difference if you have a pre-screening. Counselling and preparing for the next steps are more important for me.

It's actually a sensitive issue. I don't think anyone other than you would post about the matter. Hopefully, someone would PM you answers to your query.

Charles: It's actually an after thought. Given the sensitivity of the issue, it may be best the the OP receive direct answers to the question through PM and avoid unruly remarks. And honestly, I am no expert on the matter and that's the only advice I can give to the OP. :)
