Just arrived earlier today and I consider myself lucky as I was the only immigrant in line. Passing through the two immigration officers took five minutes to complete. Customs inspection was also a breeze. They only x-rayed my bags and didn't open them. Overall, I had a smooth and quick POE experience at LAX.

My POE is LAX too.. did they ask you questions. do you need to declare the contents of your luggage? did you pay anything?

These were the only questions I was asked.

First officer in the immigration line: Where's your packet? He then asked me to remove the plastic bag and after typing my name in his computer and stamping my passport, he told me "Congratulations. Just go to the end of the area to have yourself fingerprinted."

Second officer in the immigration section: "Do you speak English?" "Ok. Just relax while we fingerprint you." "Do you have any baggage? Go get them and come back here." After coming coming back, he handed me my passport and told me that this will be my green card good for one year or until my actual green card arrives. Then he said, "Congratulations."

Maybe it help that the two immigration officers were Fil-Ams. The other Asian immigration in the fingerprinting area --Korean I think--was rude and even told me to go home when she saw me walking around the area. But she smiled and said "Congratulations." when the second Fil-Am gave me my passport.

BTW, you have to declare everything. You'll be given a customs declaration card in the plane before you land. :)
