Adjustment of Status for K-1 Visa holders

Two of the requirements needed for the Adjustment of Status for K-1 Visa holders is the:

1. I-864 Affidavit of Support

2. I-693A Medical Examination

As you are well aware, these items have been previously been filed during the process of getting your K-1 Visas. But now it is now required for the Adjustment of Status.

Questions:

1. For the I-864 Affidavit of support, will a copy of the form previously submitted to the US Consulate suffice? (or a new form needs completed?) what about letter from employer? (does that need to be original too?) These forms are not within our hands anymore as the immigration officer has got them during the K-1 Visa process. Could you please confirm?

2. I-693A Medical Examination: I have not completed all the required vaccines as the appointed doctor by the US immigration said that the rest could be done once I get there. I am not sure what needs to be done now. Could someone help me out?

And the final application needs to be sent by mail to the chigaco office isn't it? We are currently residing in Boston until end of summer and are filing the Adjustment of Status from there. Is that correct?

Thanks a lot!

1) a new sponsorship form needs to be completed and submitted along with the most recent income tax information. I believe the sponsorship form submitted for the K-1 has a different form number. The I-864 Affidavit is a contractually binding form where the one submitted for the K-1 isn't.

2) In the US make an appointment with a civil surgeon to complete any missing vaccinations, or if your vaccinations are complete, to have the information from your vaccination worksheet (a copy is given to you during your medical) transferred to the I-693A medical report. It is not part of your medical done outside of the US. Civil Surgeons have the forms in their office.

3) everything is submitted to the Chicago lockbox address regardless of where you reside.

Good luck.

Just a tip on the I-693 and Vaccinations.

Since your in San Francisco go to the San Francisco International Airport Clinic. They know what you need and all about the I-693 form. This place is cheaper than any place we contacted when we were looking for a Civil Surgeon to get the form and vaccinations for my fiancee. If remember correctly we paid a total of $85 for everything.

Just tought this may help you out.

Pris,

Neither of these have been previously submitted in the process of getting a K visa, and I-693A is the vaccination supplement form, not the medical exam form.

1. You cannot submit a copy of the affidavit of support used for the visa application, you need to prepare the I-864 form required for adjustment of status.

2. Look on the USCIS web site for Civil Surgeons in your area to get the vaccinations completed and an I-693A form filled out.

Your I-485 application needs to be submitted to the Chicago lockbox, the receiving station for the National Benefits Center, not to be confused with the Chicago District Office.
