Nintendo Wii Question

So I purchased the Nintendo Wii platform last year via ebay. That right there should say it all but I'll continue anyway. Certain games, like Guitar Hero, work just fine and dandy but when you first turn the Wii on and you have to click on something, like what game you're playing, it takes about 10 minutes and a whole lot of patience to click the game because you can't see the little handprint that you click on.

Why is that? I was thinking of getting a new sensor bar but when I googled it I came upon some sites that claim that the sensor is really in the remote, not the bar...whatever THAT means.

So.....is this true for everyone? Is startup just a pain in the patooty or is my sensor bar just whacked? Any ideas/thoughts? I'm really not a techie person at all. I really want to buy Call of Duty:World at War for my husband but I know he has no patience for finding the little hand on the Wii so he normally just plays on the PS2 but I think the Call of Duty for Wii is going to be much better than a playstation version of it.

Thanks for any help I can get!

I have the same problem. It can be any number of problems. You could be too far/close to the sensor bar. You could have the sensor bar set to "top of tv" and have it sitting on the bottom or vice versa. Often if there's any sunlight shining on the bar or on the remote it can cause difficulties. Because of the way our house is set up, it's basically impossible to play the Wii during the daytime. If you 'lose' the hand, I've found it's better to move it slowly as opposed to whipping the control about in annoyance. But that's really the only tip I can give :(

I hate hate hate losing the hand!!! I don't even try and I give my whole family credit for dealing with it because it takes far more patience than I have. What I don't get though is why it works so well once you start playing. It's enough to make me pull my hair out I tell ya! lol

Great and accurate response. Adding to that...the sensor bar is just some LEDs that are used as a point of reference for the WiiMote.

The WiiMote essentially has a camera in it that looks for the sensor bar.

You can try changing the position of the sensor bar (place it on top if it's now on the bottom...or the other way around).

If you move the sensor bar, you have to change the setting on the Wii.

There are aftermarket sensor bars that may emit a brighter LED.

But first try to move closer to the sensor bar.

When is the last time you connect to the internet to update your Wii? Just last month I updated my Wii, so you should check and see if that will solve some of your problems..

PS2 and Wii are probably on the same level graphicwise for COD: WAW .. IMO ... but should be more fun 2 play on the Wii.. :)
