When can I apply for citizenship?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer already but I wanted to confirm to avoid donating any more money to USCIS than I already have...

* I'm married to a USC

* Just got my 10yr greencard last week through my wife

* Greencard states - Resident Since 03/15/06

Reading the N400 instructions, am I correct in assuming I can file for citizenship anytime after March 15, 2009?

You can file 90 days before March 15 2009. I assume as you have only questioned the date you meet all other requirements to file after 3 years on grounds of marriage.

A quick calculation says you can file on December 16th but double check my counting back of the 90 days. Make sure the application is not post marked before the 90 days.

Only that you are still married and live together I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Oh yes there is a requirement I think to have lived at your current address for a certain amount of time I believe. It isn't very long but if you have recently moved it might be worth checking if I am right or not.

You and I have similar timelines. You are eligible to file for citizenship on December 15th, 2008.

There are two other requirements:

1. physical presence - that you have been in the country for at least 18 months since you became a PR

2. continuous residence - that any single absence from the US is no longer than 6 months

If you are applying based on five years as a Lawful Permanent Resident or based on three years as a Lawful Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you may apply for naturalization up to 90 days before you meet the ''continuous residence'' requirement.
