Okay so I am trying to figure out this adjustment of status thing. How do I find out if I need to actually go into my closest immigration office or if I can just send all the paper work through the mail? Also if I do need to go there how do I find out which is the closest one or even the right one? Is there anyone who can help me? I am just trying to stay a head of the game and instead I feel like I am drowning. So really any info on this would be super helpful...thanks to all!

In almost every case - you'll send your paperwork to the Chicago Lockbox address (see instructions page on the I-485 itself). They will (if an interview is needed) forward your case to your nearest local office.

Suggestion - follow the Step by Step Guide for AOS found HERE on VJ for further information (forms, tips, etc.).

Hello there, regarding your adjustment of status, you can mail your application depending which states you reside. Just read the instruction of form I-485, Adjustment of Status. You can find what your looking for in here:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Hope that will help.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Okay so on the uscis website it says that you can file your I-131 and I-765 with your AOS without additional cost...is that the case? If it is would I send all my forms together to the chicago lockbox or to my local branch? The other thing I am wondering about is a ssn card how would I go about getting that? Thanks again you guys it's people like you that keep me going but the big buck I paid for my lawyer isn't amounting to ####!!!
