Short-haired women are less sexy

Of course movie stars with professional stylists (and facelifts) ..etc look great, but in GENERAL when I see a 50 year old woman with flowing gray or ultra-dyed hair, I think TACKY.

There is no law, but as we age I believe it's best to go for classy and sophisticated, rather than sex kitten.

Again, just my opinion.

Why can't long hair be classy and sophisticated? I don't understand why only short hair can be that. You don't have to have to have the tousled just-out-of-bed look going on. LOL

And, btw, I'm not talking about the "old ladie" set and roll...I'm talking a nice bob or layered cut, sholuder-length or less.

I think it depends on how women wear it. I simply can't think of Crystal Gayle as "sophisticated" with that long a$$ bedspread on her head.

Maybe Nessa meant it different, but I take that as the long hair making a woman feel pretty. We all have something that makes us feel pretty. That's not to say that short hair can't make another woman feel pretty. It's just the societal finger-pointing that says...tut, tut...you are too old for long hair. You should act your age. Well, what does that mean?

there was a girl i worked with who had long graying hair and she looked pretty with it. i think its just the texture of hair. some of it when it goes gray become like wire but not all does.

Join the club - I'm never cutting my waist-length hair except to trim the ends. Short hair as a sign of turning 'a certain age' is a product of the last 100 years in Euro-American society. Women in many cultures such as India and Tibet as well as European and American women until the 1920s never cut their hair. A twist, bun or braid can look as classy and sophisticated as a short do.

Did you cut your hair because you felt it was the thing to do? Or do you like it short? I haven't once said that short hair is frumpy or unsexy, OR not pretty. There are oodles of pictures I could find of beautiful women with short hair. I just have an issue with being told that at a certain age you SHOULD do such and such because that's what society says. Oh, and BTW, my hair is only about 4 inches below my shoulders, so not exactly long, long.

not necessarily. lots of women look prettier with short hair. In my case, i look prettier with long hair, so I won't be cutting mine short when I'm old. I just don't think people should cut their hair as it's the rule when they're older, like when you're older you shouldn't be showing your belly with a piercing, that's just wrong, unless you're Kim Cattrall or Nicolette Sheridan.
