We were approved on December 18, 2008. Got NVC first letter on Jan 5, 2008. After 10 days called NVC. Told you are in AP. Called again, still on AP.

Tired of calling again and again. Could some one tell whether NVC would send another letter whenever we are out of AP or that the docs have been sent to to the consulate or do we need to call them to get this info.

We called them every night the last while. As it was, I had my interview scheduled before he ever got a notice out of NVC, so we are glad we didn't wait on them.

And I have heard from others that they were never notified. I just keep calling. One of these times, they will say it has been sent on to the consulate.

I called again tonight. Force of habit, I guess. Same answer - still stuck. Very pleasant chap though - a fella named Max tonight.

We got him quite a lot...we hardly ever got an unpleasant person...the only unpleasant thing was not hearing what we hoped to do.

Thanks everybody for kind words. What a great VJ Community! I was afraid to call. I hated the the words "still in AP". But then , mustered courage and called tonight and was told that we are out of AP and our case has been sent to the Consulate on 13 February after staying at NVC for 39 days! Good luck to all who are still waiting!

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I've started calling everyday now. lol

lets see what they say today! she sounds like she has a cold.

"yes, right now it is still in administrative processing"

:(

I'll call tomorrow, I found the magic time, morning...I wasnt even on hold for a minute. Usually when I call in the afternoon, its like a 8-9 minute call.

congratulations Puru!

Glad to say my interview went ok and my visa was approved.

One odd thing they asked me several questions about a woman I had never heard of. Seemed it showed up on their record that she overlapped as a resident of the appartment my fiance moved into in Dec 2007. The overlap was only 2 months and he seemed to accept it when I said Charley had always lived there alone. Just made me wonder if this had popped up as a flag for us and was the reason for our extra checks.

Congrats Talyss

I didnt know they delved that deep...the lease records of an apt?!?!? holy #######!

I would think they found that while in AP, not while at the service center..but i may be way off. that just seems above and beyond, which is what nvc ap is ya?

Congratulations! Strange question...I mean that's odd that they would dig as deep as that into past appartment rentals.

thank you :)

I know nothing about the US but here we have electoral rolls that show people registered at an address between certain dates, I assumed this was the same but I could be wrong. The page he was looking at was a list of names with 2 highlighted, looked to be Charleys and this other persons.

I don't think there are any such governmental records in the US. There are census records of course, taken every 10 years but anonymous (no names).

And credit reports will show past residence information for the same person. So Charley's current and last addresses will be on his credit report - but that won't give any info about other tenants at same address. An apartment landlord will probably have records of current and past tenants at a past address, but the government would not have any automatic right to request that kind of data -I'd be outraged if they were doing that on a systemic basis. Talk about an invasion of privacy!

What I'm wondering (conspiracy theorist that I am) - could this have been a bluff just to fluster you? I.e. the page they showed you was a mock up to cast doubt on your relationship and throw your bona fides into doubt? Could they be that mean to play dirty tricks like that? Perhaps.
