I really have no idea if we'll ever get out of that place, or what will happen with our case, or, well, us, once we're out.

Talking to a supervisor probably wouldn't do us any good either. What could they say? Repeat the same thing these regular agents keep telling us, just.. with some different accent? I'm sure they can't, and don't, speed cases up because people get annoyed listening to nealry automated parrot-like statements.

Meh.

I've been calling them almost daily, and unfortunately I'm only at the start (about 2 week into) the NVC wait.

Tonight, I patiently explained to her that I have not one, not two, but THREE identical letters dated Jan 26, 27, 28 stating that "This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post...." blah blah blah and how can she not realize the inherent contradiction between the letters I've received, and what she's telling me on the phone about the "indeterminate" administrative processing time. She suggested I send them a letter with my concerns.

I then told her that if I was a customer of a commercial institution who (1) provided conflicting information about my order in written letters and over the phone (2) could not explain this contradiction (3) could not give me a timeframe in which my order would be completed (4) could not even explain to me why my order was being delayed beyond the time promised in the work order they had given me : then I would surely cancel my order and take my business to a competitor. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury with a government agency. She again politely suggested I send them a letter documenting my concerns.

So, a bit off topic, here's a dilemma. What would YOU do?

I'm a huge Springsteen fan. Have been ever since 1978, Darkness on The Edge of Town, came out.

I've never had a chance to see him live.

He's playing one night, Chicago United Center. May 12 2009.

I WILL go to see him. Regardless. No matter what.

Tickets are about $200 and up.

If I knew with even 70-80% confidence that my honey will be here by that date, I would certainly buy 2 tickets.

If I knew she had her interview date scheduled, and packet 3 in hand, I would buy 2 tickets.

But ... if I figure 6-8 weeks stuck at NVC... starting on Jan 22... puts us around late March to get released from NVC.

That means - arrival at embassy maybe around early-mid April. If she gets an interview scheduled right away, no complications or further delays, she could possibly

still have her POE before May 12.

Would you buy 1 ticket... or 2?

This is my dilemma.

(Yeah, I could possibly give the extra ticket to a friend or coworker, but I doubt they'd pay $200 for it, and I wouldn't be comfortable to ask. And I don't love my friends or coworkers all that much, apparently. Certainly nowhere near as much as I love my honey).

A case was sent to Zagreb about an hour ago.

I called.

Of course it wasn't ours.

The lady on the phone was basically a machine, repeating the one and only sentence about additional processing. She wouldn't even answer my question when I asked if there was someone else I could, maybe, talk to about this.

So, yup. 7 weeks and counting.

I'd be asking, as we did, to speak to a supervisor. My SO kept repeating the following..'you are unable to answer my questions ..please escalate my call to a suspervisor." After he did that twice in a row she did.

 for going big

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

You know what we need?

STATS.

A stuck-in-NVC thread is all fine and good, as a support network.

But what's really cool on VJ are the STATS.

We have processing time stats and graphs for NOA1, NOA2 approvals through VSC, CSC.

Processing time stats through all the world's embassies.

AOS, AP,EAD stats.

What we don't have is a graph showing processing through NVC for those who are STUCK!

There is a graph (see http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ge=k1historical )

showing all K-1 applications (with VJ timelines) through NVC, but this is obviously skewed by the great majority who don't get stuck in AP.

It shows typical duration in NVC as between 5-10 days. We know it can be much, much longer

If there was a way to flag on our VJ timelines that we got stuck in NVC AP (just as you can flag an RFE), they could separate us out, and graph us separately.

We know anecdotaly from this thread that it's about 6-8 weeks, but a graph would be nice to see.

i LOVE stats and spreadsheet and such..im such a dork! now, throw in the fact that there are also two k3's suck in NVC too. Just desiman and I. :(

So, strictly K visas obviously, are pulled for random checks.

Oh yes...that would be a good idea! I like looking at them, but I sure as heck don't know the first thing about making one :D

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

heh...he's that way...repetative presistance....

The night they said they'd sent it on, he was planning on speaking to a supervisor. I am so glad we had the webcam going, for the look on his face was priceless!

I made him ring back. Just to check. :D

Yes, you are absolutely right :(

If possible, that must be even worse than to be a K-1 in NVC hell. I mean, if you're one of only two K-3 couples that got victimized, you must really be wondering what the ????

Hope it passes quickly and you get your "Get out of Jail Free" card any day now.

We're still waiting as well.

Hi cdneh,

This really sucks.... just when we thought we were so close.... we get stuck for AP!! I try so hard not to think about it or worry too much... the truth is, had I not found this site, I would never think twice that our case was unusual, only because I see other K1 filers fly thru NVC in a couple of days did I think why was ours taking so long.... however, I am greatful for everyone's support here and everything I've learned just from other peoples experiences... I guess the only thing we can do is WAIT.....

Is there any update yp upit case? My approved petition request has been at NVC since 19 Dec....undergoing "administration processing"....

YES! I posted ages ago - when the thread was a baby, that we should make a list. But yes, A graph/stats spread sheet....now were talking!

Any takers on doing it?

Our is stuck, now past the 7 week mark (since we believe it was received by them on Dec 17th or 18th, or something like that)... Yes, I know that, realistically, I need to apply some more positive thinking, but it's hard. Maybe tonight I will call them again and see what another parrot will have to say and then ask for a supervisor just to make myself feel better, since I don't believe talking to them can speed up the process.

I work at a call center of some sort myself and there, no matter what is going on, it's not an acceptable phrase to say "I don't know, it's ______, we have no idea it will be done", just like I can't repeat the same sentence over and over again if my client has any and all further questions. What I cannot answer myself, it is actually MY job to have it forwarded straight to a supervisor or some other sort of a higher-up, who can then explain the problem into details. Yes, I am aware that government and finance-related business are not exactly the same, but... for f*'s sake, it's people's lives here they're playing with, even moreso than it is the case where I work, and where it's money we're dealing with.

I'm just getting really enraged, I suppose, since I can't see the end of this and, like I've been repeating from the beginning, I'm getting more and more scared of the outcome of the actual interview. Once it happens, of course. Which may or may not be anytime soon.

To make it even worse, we're not even in a hurry. Our original plan, having received our NOA2 about a month and a half earlier than expected, was to talk to the Embassy and have the interview rescheduled to mid or late March. I have a few more exams left before I can graduate and, well, it's just kind of smart to get it all done before my moving to the States. Otherwise, I'd have to come back to sort it out and whatnot. Well, I guess they're, actually, rescheduling things on our behalf. Har har har.

Okay, NVC, it's about time you stopped chewing on our case. It's boring; there's nothing interesting about us. Okay???
