I wish you all the luck, cdneh!

I'll keep hoping the case that's on its way to Zagreb is ours, even though the rational part of my brain says I'm, basically, an idiot. I won't be calling NVC again for at least a week. We're still practicing... patience, as well as waiting for them to reply to an email my fiance sent the other day. Might call the Embassy here, though, to see if they have the electronic information, or anything of the sort. More likely, I won't do that either. Maybe we'll break all the stuck-in-AP records and then also get denied, too. It'd make sense, considering our luck, overall.

just got this answer from an operator:

Me, coyly "ma'am, what is AP exactly?, I dont understand"

Star "they are just looking at the documents more thoroughly, I think..nothing big" "then they will forward it to the embassy"

interesting.

good luck everyone!

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

My I-130 hasn't been at NVC (been 43 days since approval). NVC says they haven't received it, the USCIS is being rude and gives no answer. My congressman's office didn't help as it came back with a canned response. I am asking them again to do a more detailed inquiry.

On the other hand, the I-129F is in AP since 12/22/08 at NVC and as you all know, need at least couple more weeks.

So I am stuck both ways and it's really frustrating. I have no clue where to turn. My Senator says, get this, "busy setting up office in DC" (recent election). I guess I'll have to see if a lawyer could help.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

des,

I hope your congressman gets the details back soon. you were approved befre us and we already got the AOS fee request WEEKS ago :(

When I asked for a further detailed answer from USCIS from my congressman, we got a response in abotu a week or so i think. I hope this is the case for you as well.

I dont have any other suggestions since you have gone both avenues with the congressman and senator.

Does every case need an AP administrative processing (backround check)?

Who is the background check on?

Will the NOA2 have the Manila case number on it or do I need to call NVC to retrieve the case number before they send it in the mail?

Its only a minority of case that seem to get stuck in AP.

NVC usually send a letter to you with the case number on it a few days after they recieve it - or you can ring the NVC and quote your USCIS number and they should be able to tell you if a case number has been allocated

Hey All........another week huh?

My well wishes for your interview CDNEH!!!

As for me.......I called today to check if my case was still there...(today makes 6 weeks and 4 days).....a nice girl answered and told me it was still there.....then I said "Wow, on Monday it will be 7 weeks, that sure is a long time"....then she asked me if I wanted her to ask a supervisor to check on the case.....I said "that would be GREAT".....so she put me on a hold for a long time and then came back and said that the supervisor was going to follow up on my behalf and it shouldn't be much longer until my case heads to the embassy......so, I asked her if I could call back Tuesday and she said sure.

So, that was bad news and good news.....bad - it is still there, good - a supervisor may be checking on the delay........

I really hope to not be the one to break the 7 weeks 3 day record.......actually, I hope none of us have to!!!!! So, hang in there all......let's see what next week holds!!!!!

Oh.... well.....

I'm apparently destined to hang out on this thread for the next ???? weeks? MONTHS?? Oh no :(

Is this , like, the least enviable thread to be on in all of VJ, or what?

I didn't even know this thread EXISTED until about 2 hours ago. I suspect most K-1 filers, even those who have been on VJ from the start of their petitions,

have no clue that there is such a thing as the NVC-black-hole thread :( Now, I've come to realize, to my horror, that you guys are on PAGE 38 of a thread that started in December, and with every sign that this will go on for pages and pages more. Criminy. I've skimmed much of these 38 pages, gotten to know some of the frequent posters and your stories.

Here's mine. Sept 08 K-1 filer, steadily watched our progress on Igor's list all through the fall till we finally got the great news that we were NOA2 on Jan 14. That happy night feels so long ago now.

Since then I've gotten two NVC letters saying they'll be sending on to Bangkok embassy within a week. Hah! I've called NVC each night this week, got my case number, and tonight she used those two most dreadful words in all of the entire US Immigration system "Administrative review" (well.... perhaps not as dreadful as "Visa denied", heaven forfend).

I realize the group consensus is that they randomly pick victims for this additional torment. In my case, everything is clean cut, names are unlikely to collide in the database, etc. The one thing I can think of is that I recently started my new job at a trading firm which has clearing privileges at the various exchanges (CME, CBOE, etc.) and as part of that, each employee has their fingerprints recorded by the CBOE and sent to FBI database as well. I wonder if that's got me on NVC hit list? That my fingerprints were recently added to FBI database? Drat.

So, here I am, with the rest of you all. Hope you can shift over a bit on the park bench and make some room for this latest arrival. What do we do while we sit here and wait? Feed the pigeons and the squirrels? Play sudoku puzzles and trivia quizzes? Sigh.

Between this and the 6 month club…although I think this is worse in that we have be approved already for Pete’s sake!

Most K1’s never have to know about the back hole at NVC ..as on the whole they tend to slip through there in a day or two. Sure wasn’t expecting to be held up there, and there was little to indicate back in November that was even a possibility. Kim was held up back in September for 3 weeks, but I can’t recall reading about anyone else.

It does show every indication now of being an ungoing saga. I haven’t read anything to say there is a new process is place for K1’s…but it sure does seem like that’s the case. I cringe every time some innocent poster with a bright shiny new NOA2 is told ..’oh it will be at NVC for a couple of days and then you should hear from the consulate soon!’

There’s nothing quite like getting the AP message is there…I remember thinking what?? Frantic forums searches followed, and there was nothing much to read on the subject for K1’s.

I was happy at least to read that NVC cannot deny. One bright spot at least.

So…while I’m sorry to see the beat goes on, and new people find there way here as they find out they are in AP, I do welcome you to the thread, uscandual. We managed to escape after 7 weeks and 2 days…but I still check in, and I try and direct those new folks here when I see the question asked in other areas.

You’re welcome to a seat in the park …it is good in one way to have company while you wait, other stories to read, progress to follow. It does end, and I’m sorry they can never tell you when. I wish you all the best, and a speedy trip through.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

This thread helped me keep my sanity whilst we were stuck in AP. Im sorry that you've had the misfortune to have got stuck there also, but I think knowing you are not alone in the situation helps.
