Sorry to hear that Johnny ! I've called just about every day .... and they do not have mine in the system yet !

Hey Mark. Yeah I'm not sure what's worse: Not knowing where your case is or knowing it's in AP limbo and not knowing why..

Hope you get some good news soon! We are still planning for the advanced medical (since we do have a MNL case number) and assembling our docs and requirements for the interview. be Makes it at least feel like we're not sitting on our butts waiting for NVC. 30 days seems to average time for AP.

Didn't I read somewhere that VJ flowchart that things are supposed to move much faster now in DoS?

Wow that is quite odd. Since NVC has the standard response of AP if the case has not left for the consulate yet... If it is really not AP, then it is likely heading out to the consulate in the next 48 hours. Keep calling and the truth will come out eventually.

There ya go ! cross your fingers and your toes !!

I got a strange answer last night when I called ...... the usual not in the system yet and then " should take 15 business days " ????? huh ? thought ok .... I'm in the wrong department ( ??? ) ... called back an hour later and Sidney answered ( I'm starting to recognize the operators names  ) .... got the same answer " 15 business days "

Ok .... something has changed !

Called again early this morning and got the usual " not in the system yet, can take 2 to 4 weeks and as much as 90 days " response. Back to normal ????

Now I am wondering..... are there different departments at NVC to call ??? I have just been following the directions of the computer voice ... " press 1 for english " .... " press 2 for K visas' " and " all our operators are busy please hold for the next ... yada yada yada."

Yeah, while the operators are very nice and friendly, they still don't seem to have much of an idea of what's happening. I think their computer screens only have a few things ...and that could be dates received/shipped, AP...??? So all they can do is say,,,,you're file is still here...or it has shipped today.....or you are in AP...ask for something like timeline or reason for delay and you're SOL on getting anything but a scripted response. 2 to 4 weeks must be their standard response. The last one I spoke to said call again next week. I'll give em a few days then call again.

Ohhh first time I went through the press 1 then 2......last time I pressed 1 then 5...I think 5 goes to main operators..I did by accident...but didn't want to go back through the system again??

Well....no consistency with NVC...Just called again tonight out of curiosity, on hold for 40 mins....and they said it's still in AP! Yesterday it wasn't in AP and today it is in AP....I asked if I would ever get a letter or anything to say my file was received (I know several received letters even when they were in AP)...she said...we NEVER send letters to ANYONE unless their file is being sent to the embassy... Now I know for a fact based on many personal VJ posts that they DO send letters, even if they are stuck in AP....I was trying to a get letter or something from NVC to help ease my fiancee's nervousness about taking her medical without an NVC letter......that place is like one big black hole....

But when I asked if my file was AP...she put me on hold for a few minutes...?? They never did that before?? .... Usually they click on their system...and tell me status instantly.

Yeah, I called again today....you know thinking....best 2 out of 3 answers??? Well...today she (Alice) said...ohhh you're in additional processing sir. And she started explaining what AP is....and I said ohh you can skip the script....can you tell me how long..approximately?? She said...No, sorry.. I said is it in between 1 month and 1 year?? She said..I don't know. I said...ummm can you say why it's there?? She said...we have no case info. I think if they just said....30-60 days, I'd be ok. You know, USCIS says 5 months, so we assume 5 months and hopefully we can get results sooner. But we have a baseline. NVC just says...we don't know, it's really like a black hole with no answers.

Contact USCIS and make sure they sent it out... there have been cases that got lost before they left...

Expect 30 days or so... it cant be rushed.. My congressional rep inquired and was told it was an FBI check and there was nothing that could be done until the FBI was done. If you call ask them when should I call back... and if they say call back on Friday or any specific day for that matter.. expect that the case is back from FBI and about to be sent out to the consulate... dont let them frustrate you.. they are only allowed to say what is on that script and nothing more... they can get in trouble if the go off of the script...
