I guess I'll never know for sure whether it made a difference, but...

I faxed my letter to the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs on Friday afternoon;

Can you please at least point me in the direction of how you came about this information?

Thanks in advance unless it's a secret.

See, here's the thing... the National Visa Center is under the jurisdiction of the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs. But so are the visa units at the embassies—the people who do the interviews and grant (or deny) the actual visas. I'm sure I'm just being paranoid, but I've been burned so many times in this process already, I'm just not ready to open Ambassador Jacobs' fax floodgates until we have a visa in hand.

That said, I obtained the fax number using open-source information. It took me a phone call, because the published fax number is incorrect (purposely so, I suspect). The office number is correct, though, and they gave me the fax number.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but I actually had a letter from NVC saying our case was approved and was being forwarded to the consulate, but after 2 weeks and the consulate didn't have it, I called back to NVC and they told me our case was in AP status. I had a clear letter in writing, even with our NPL (Naples Consulate code) and his Alien registration number. Good luck. Just don't believe anything until it happens. They tell you one thing and do another.

I got the same letter, dated September 4th. NVC confirmed on September 21 that the AP reviews were finished, and confirmed on September 22 that the file had been sent to Seoul. The State Department in Washington confirmed this afternoon that it has indeed left NVC and is on its way to Seoul.

Truly happy!!!

I guess I'll never know for sure whether it made a difference, but...

  • I faxed my letter to the Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs on Friday afternoon;
  • Was told Monday afternoon that the AP reviews of our case were complete; and
  • Was told today that NVC had sent out the file to Seoul.
Things that make you go hmm....

BTW - Did you get any notification at all email or phone call? I know you checked by calling but I'm wondering if they also call or e-mail if they have the information on file.

No, they didn't contact me.

I'm out too. :wow: Called today at noon while on my lunch break, I could barely swallow when she told me, "The petition has been sent today to Manila." I asked her if it gone from NVC or is it still there? She just repeats in a gruff voice the same thing. I thanked her and hung up. I haven't changed my time line because Martina reads our VJ homepage and I want to break the good news to her.

I work in an Ombudsmans office for the State Department in Health Services. I can truthfullly say that when we get a congressional inquiry (State Reps) we move it. I did fax my Washington Representative and called his office, two days later I'm out of NVC. Can't say if that was the cause for sure. Come to think of it at my office constituents don't know if the congressman was helpful or not.

I checked my email and still NVC has not emailed me. I would recommend to keep calling NVC since the email notification lagged (at least for me)

Crazyman,mavrick64,dhc,chrismel, and sweetgurl you are all in my prayers. I want you all to feel the joy i felt when i heard the news that Martina and myself closed the book on NVC. Thanks Allie for your encouragement for me to be patient. :bonk:

Thanks Oscar and Martina.

Day 15 in NVC jail :crying: :crying:

Yes, everyone gets that letter saying that your case will be sent on soon whether you're in AP or not.

I know its incredibly frustrating but it seems like such a distant memory to me now ... Just hang in there and call the NVC at least once a week. The longest documented stays in AP here on VJ are about 50 days (me included). It will all be worth it in the end.

And us..53 days at NVC. Glad it's quicker now. Heck glad at least now we know they are actually doing this, which we didn't back last year.

Congrats to the recent parolees

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

There seem to be alot of Texans stuck in AP <_<

Here is too another day and another chance to get out of AP - I swear this is what my life has become

After I get him here ( if this is ever a reality ) and probably after we are married and might even for the safety sake have green card and rest of process done - lol - I am going to form small grassroot movement to overhaul this mess

Well is not really mess - they do handle alot of applications and you know can not be easy trying to work w different presidents and different political movements

Maybe this whole sector of the government should be taken over by a private identity or something - who knows - but if anything - would like to see some sweeping changes in the NVC - they seem a bit more like the KGB then some United States Government Dept

You know if you look at the basic purpose of a k-1 - it is so simple in theory with such sweet intentions - Yes you can bring your sweetie here to spend some time w him/her and marry them - if does not work out is ok - they can go back - no harm done - things happen in a relationship - is ok - we understand this

But is like that have taken this and have like everything else in the government added to and decided on their own to add to and decide to make more then is.

I read in another thread on here - someone posted that this is like a "privilege " to be able to do this - it is not our "right" to be able to have our sweeties or spouses come here - when did this happen ? What is happening to the United States ? When did it not become the average citizens country ? Why is this is "privilege " - I am a free person - I can do as I wish with my life and this is my right - this is what the US is based on - we as citizens should be demanding answers from NVC - not saying oh Thank you for nothing - I mean ####### is wrong with this picture ??

Is it me ?? Even poor Stephen is afraid of posting an elected official fax number for fear of repercussions until he has his sweetie here - I found myself even writing apology letter to US embassy in Romania as before we started this journey He has applied for visitor visa and was denied and I sent a "#######" email to them - so sent a apology one just in case this is why we are in AP ..lol

I for one am so tired of kissing government's behinds - I need like mouthwash w lysol or something

well had some update this morning when called - they said is still there but WILL be leaving within next five days - she did not say was still in AP when I asked if was - this is when she said was still there but she did not say it was - she just said it would be leaving within the "sometime" during the next 5 days for the embassy ( which sort of fits into my theory of quotas for visa waiver programs for countries trying to make it )

so we will see ...

am not doing the chicken dance just yet :P

Here's hoping!

It is an irritating process I can agree with you there. And all over lines on a map.

My SO was so irritated by the AP process, he filed a FOIS request. If we ever hear back on that, I will be happy to say why we were held up and what they were looking at. They told me at interview it was random, but he didn't believe that

It's just that there is NO transparency in the system, they won't tell you what's going on, which of you is under scrutiny or how long it will hold you up. We had two letters sent once our petition reached NVC that said our case would be sent on within a week, and it was over 8 weeks before that actually happened. He didn't appreciate what he perceived as a flat out lie.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Day 38...still AP Hell...I am beyond furious. I am now beginning to believe that something is wrong. called my Congresswoman's office yesterday and they informed me that she faxed a request on Friday 18th requesting a status on the case. They told me give it a week and it usually makes the case go to the top of the pile. From what I can tell, I think I am now the longest currently in AP here on VJ. Really, I feel like giving up.
