I really didn't want to be added to this group...but we found out today that we're also in AP at the NVC :crying:

So I guess our July wedding, that became an August wedding, and then an October wedding might have to be pushed back yet again :(

One question: I've read some posts where people are tracking their packages through DHL. Where do you find that information and tracking number? I'm somewhat confused because it seems people are able to track "any" shipment to a specific consulate, and I have no idea how that would be done!

Let's hope this journey ends soon...

You can check packages that were sent from NVC to the respective embassies by going to www.dhl-usa.com, choose "Track by Reference" and enter the date the package was sent to the embassy this way EXP 22 JUL 2009A this will show all the packages that were sent from NVC on the date you choose. I have seen on this site that you should use the date prior to the one NVC tells you the package was sent (ie - they tell you it was sent on the 23 july, so put in the reference the 22 jul). I was in AP from July 1 through the 14 if that helps you any with the timing. Good luck!!!

First, welcome to the thread, sorry you are in AP , but glad you have found us

When people say they are tracking their packages through the DHL website, they don't have a tracking number. What is happening is that they are tracking any package that is going to their country's consulate. It worked for me, because not a great many packages are sent this way to New Zealand. If you are coming from a place where many have applied from you won't be able to tell for sure if any one package is yours. Knowing the date NVC send you on can narrow it down a bit for you.

Time spent at NVC is coming down quite a bit from last year..I wish you a speedy trip through AP

Here's the way I saw mine:

NVC to Embassy using DHL...

Go here... http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

EXP 07 NOV 2008A (my date) <---- this should be about one day before the NVC tells you it left.

Below in the "shipment pick up date range" put the day NVC told you it left as start and finish.

You may need to play with these dates a bit but that is what worked for me.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thankfully I am cleared of AP as of today. Thanks for all of the information that helped keep me sane through this little process. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope to never have to post a question here again. I will gladly offer support, but never ever do I want to ask a question in this particular forum.

Congratulations on you release!

I can understand never wanting to be part of this process again, my stay in AP was the most soul destroying part of the K1 process. I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly and speedily for you.

Question to everyone on this thread: When you found out you're in AP@NVC, what exact words did they use - "Administrative Processing" or "Additional Processing"? The reason I'm asking is that there seems to be a difference between the two confirmed by both NVC reps and attorney I spoke with. Edited by conny

They are the same thing. NVC selects certain files for extra processing. Call it what you will - Administrative or Additional - it amounts to several weeks extra waiting time.

If you want to see where you are on the wait-list, follow this link (also in my sig) http://apnvc.info. There are tables for K1 and K3 cases which are undergoing AP@NVC, according to their Visajourney timelines. We were stuck for 50 days - back around Feb/March that was the typical extra wait. It seems to have gotten a bit better since then, down to perhaps ~30 days.

The page will not update automatically. If you want to have it refresh from the VJ database, point your browser to http://apnvc.info/vjcron.pl . This will take about a minute and give you an error page. Ignore the error, then return back to a refreshed result page at http://apnvc.info

I think it depends on which operator you speak to at the NVC which phrase they use. We too were told both during our stay.

The same is not true of DoS operators when you are enquiring about a case at the embassy, they use the phrase administrative processing to mean the ordinary paperwork steps at the embassy and additional processing to mean the security checks. I found this out after freaking out on the phone when I was told we were in administrative processing at the UK embassy after just being released from AP at the NVC.

Hi everyone, We found out last week that our case is in AP at NVC. I have a question that did they give you your case number when they told you that your case is in AP? Thanks.

Hopefully, it won't take long for all of us.

We got our case number a few days after our case arrived at the NVC. I have read you can complete the visa application and the medical while in AP, but we are waiting.
