I'd like to think they aren't allowed to be vindictive in that sense..lol...in any event by the time they let us out we were used to ringing every day.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

They are just CSR's who answer the phone and check status on their screens. I dont think they care if you call everyday. I called everyday when we got close to 40-50 days...

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

That's what it seems, they can read your case off the screen but can't alter it. Phone drones. We had to escalate to a supervisor to get an answer to the 'are we in AP ' question, even though they can see the flag, they never told us that. The supervisor we first spoke to didn't know why we hadn't been made aware of that, as the case was cleared flagged as in AP.

Maddening process and clear as mud.

Ok...to add to my frustration....I called them today...just to see if I could get a status of SOME SORT. The woman who answered was very nice...but seemed to have a VERY small vocabulary limited to....your visa just came current and you should call back next week to see the status. So, I asked about 4 times, do you still see it in additional processing? She would not say that. She said, I see that your visa just came current and you should call back next week to see the status. I SWEAR I was talking to a recording.

She DID finally say that she doesn't know why I was told we were in additional processing...when I said, so we AREN'T? She repeated the "Visa came current" phrase. She also said they received it 3/10. I said, no, it was approved by USCIS just on 6/10. She said, yes, that is when we got it. I was like ####### is she talking about. I told her this is all as clear as mud...at which point she started laughing. Now I am as confused a EVER. I think I need a drink...and I am not usually a drinking woman! :help:

Beuaracracy! i swear i gotta laugh to keep from going insane. i tracked my case from NVC using DHL to the embassy in Trinidad. it would have been delivered Friday but it was a holiday there [ they have a lot of holidays there ] so i called the embassy today to see whats up with the case- 2 cases arrived from DHL-and was told to call back later in the week as the person that opens the packages wasnt available. i simply want to arrange for my fiancee to pick up her packets instaed of relying on the unreliable mail system there[ was told she could do that ] maybe im being impatient but it seems a little lazy to me that someone couldnt simply open the package to let me know it made it for sure and tell me if she could come get her packet. im getting numb to all this......

There is not much movement on this thread. How many folks are in AP? has anyone had a short experience? What has been the trend lately?

I for one, am in AP hell...and hope it's a short stay. I am resolved to ONLY call once a week instead of everyday, because otherwise, I will go bonkers. I say we storm the NVC and see what the HELL they are doing with our files!!!

Im in AP jail too.. inmate 007 here... lol

A friend asked me why dont I call the dept of state. So today I did. I told the lady that my file is at NVC in "additional processing". I was wanting to know what exactly that is and why i was there. I told her that the customer service at NVC cant tell me nothing as to why or what it is. She took my case number and pulled up my file. What about she tells me Im not in additional processing. That my fiance's file is just in "que" waiting to go to the embassy. She said that the embassy that our file is going to is a very busy one so they hold files until the embassy requests more to be sent. So based on this and the fact that NVC can never tell you why you are in AP or how long it makes me to believe there may be no such thing for most but rather a control mechanism for sending out to many petitions at once. And they are just basically on hold.. So with that I called NVC this afternoon to check the status- a man told me I was in "additional review" as always and that once completed my file would be forwarded to the embassy..

Go figure..

We called the DOS too, at about 40 days. The person we spoke to there told my husband that they couldn't tell us anything else, that we were in AP and that it would be finished when it was, however long that took.

She offered to transfer us back to NVC.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Well, I had to laugh today. I got my notice from the NVC saying my petition will be forwarded to the embassy within a week. If it weren't for VJ and everyone's experiences with this, I would have been all excited, only to be very disappointed later when I found out it was all BS. Sigh...I wonder if calling the state department would give us more information as with some, or not, as with most.
