STUCK @ NVC for AP

Good morning my AP peeps.

I'm getting all of a dither at the moment trying to sort things out in anticipation of our release from NVC....and wanted to ask a quick question.

Last time I called NVC, they took my email address. Does this mean that they will actually contact me when we break out of jail? Or, like everything else to do with NVC, was it just a way of giving misinformation and false hope to their inmates.

Has anyone actually recieved an email from them when they were released? I dont mind calling, but its putting a hell of a dent in my phone bill, and dave is working so many hours at the moment he doesnt have time to even sleep properly.

nah, they just get the email address. I never received ANY correspondence when we were released on good behavior

NVC now lists email as their preferred form of contact, so after calling them a few times, I tried the email route. I didn't get a response from them right away (except for the automatic response). But they did send me an email when they sent the case to the consulate! I also called them right after that to make sure the email was correct, and it was!

So I would recommend sending them an email, and that way they will probably send you an email back when they are done processing your case.

I also sent them an email early on and received a canned AND out of context reply. I still never received an email notice when we were released. Goes to show the consistency of it all. HA!

Ooo.. finally done reading everything you all managed to type while I was gone! My fiance is on his way to the US as I type. As we have it planned, next time I'll see him, it will be over there, but we haven't set any dates yet. There's still a lot to do here before I can move.

Long story short -

Whats the status on your guys' interview date?

How long after they turn in the packet 3 do app's from BKK usually hear something?

We are still waiting to hear back from the Embassy. No news yet. They had the Thai New Year (Songkran) which closed the Embassy for 3 business days last week. And we suspect that all the protests in Bangkok may also have distracted them from getting normal business processed even on the days they were open. I hope we'll hear something SOON.

Meanwhile, Thanti had a mishap on her way into work a couple of days ago. She was riding on a motorcycle taxi (quite popular in Bangkok, since they can weave through the traffic congestion more quickly than 4 wheeled vehicles). Apparently a regular taxi came around the intersection and hit the motorcycle. Thanti went flying into the street and got banged up a bit. Thankfully no broken bones or serious injuries. She had some cuts and lacerations on her arm and a lot of bruising. She's in some pain but she's a tough cookie. if you're ever in Bangkok, beware of crazy taxi drivers!

Oh, the other good news in my life.. I finally had a Skype webcam session with my kids last Saturday. I know it's not much but it's the first one I've had since early March. Just like getting our K-1 visa is a journey, maintaining my relationship to my kids is also a journey.

Of course I've long ago come to realize that while we come to VJ initially as a means to the end of being united with our loved ones as quickly as possible, we stay and socialize and gossip on VJ as an end in itself!
