Hi All,

We tried to enter our new application number from the ASC notice, dated 11/27, at the USCIS www but got these two reasons why we couldn't:

Customer Portfolio Insert Failed

Attempting to add a case that does not exist. Check the app receipt number.

Does anyone know anything about this? We tried the "add 01" at the end suggestion from another post but you can't input more than 13 digits into the case number field.

Thank you and apologies for any redundancy!

Read your receipt. Should say you can't track it until you get biometrics letter or something like that.

As Haole mentioned, the only receipt number that works is the one you'll be receiving for biometrics soon. I have no idea why they do it that way.

I-751

12/19/07 – Mail I-751

12/21/07 – Received in Vermont

1/3/08 – NOA extending Greencard for one year

2/15/08 - Biometrics appointment

11/28/08 - InfoPass appointment to get I-551 stamp in passport to extend residency for another year

12/3/08 - Receive email notification that my status has now changed to "card production ordered" : )

and then, sometimes that one won't even work - as in my case.

Please note we said "application number from the ASC notice" which is the biometrics appointment. And yes, we read the receipt NOA with the info on what number to use.

Another question, are the receipt number (NOA1) and the application number (ASC notice/biometrics NOA) supposed to be different? Ours are but we thought they should be the same.

Thanks in advance!

yes NOA and biometrics receipt numbers are different and you can track only the number on your biometrics appointment

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I recently received a biometrics letter with receipt number and it is not working with case status online either. I found the info below on the USCIC website:

USCIS had an unprecedented number of applications filed over the summer. Our efforts to enter these applications into our systems have caused a delay in the transfer of information from our case control system to the Case Status Online system. We are experiencing delays of up to 3 to 4 weeks between receipting your application and its status being available www.uscis.gov. If you have additional questions after your information is available on Case Status Online, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
