Don't buy the bullshit USCIS call center agents tell you on the phone. Not true!!!

We had a good experience with an infopass appointment last week where they told us we got assigned to an officer Nov 13. So at least we know our case is not lost or stuck some place. Be reasonable, explain your situation, and if they tell you the standard bullsh*** just say that you know this isn't true because you know people that got approved with earlier timelines than your own (thanks to VJ!).

I already described my experience here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...8183&st=255

Also, have you already contacted your congressman? Even though we got a standard answer ("you are within timeframe"), we got assigned one day after his inquiry to an officer. Coincidence? Maybe. Yet, it is worth a try.

Hope that helps.

response from USCIS to congressman's office by email on 12/10/2008

"A review of our computer system shows that the fiancee petition was received at this office on 6/5/2008

and this office is currently processing these case types received on 3/7/2008"

from the congressman letter

"please continue to contact with me with any additional information that you think may be helpful and may

assist my staff in bringing your case to conclusion"

Nothing will happen without further push

the next:

get visajourney statistics or other EAC case # like what Krystle + Tiago is doing

and the next:

contact more source for help

Dear 6 month club members, Please let me know any suggestions.

I will schedule an infopass by xmas.

United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee

on Immigration, Refugees, & Border Security

224 Dirksen Senate Office Building

Washington, DC 20510

To the Honorable Members of this Subcommittee:

As a law-abiding US citizen, I, along with my fellow members of visajourney.com, request your assistance with our USCIS petitions. At present, the time frame for reviewing cases is nine months or longer. Despite published announcements to the contrary, many of us have been separated from our spouses and children (on whose behalf we filed I-130 and I-129F petitions) for a painful amount of time, time which cannot be recovered. After following the guidelines posted on the USCIS website and paying all applicable fees, we are waiting in suspense for an approval (the Notice of Action 2 – NOA2), and this is the source of our dilemma—an inordinate amount of waiting time and no clear explanations for delays. Hence, we ask you, Honorable Members of the US Senate, to investigate these seemingly negligent periods of inaction.

The first step for our family members is to submit the petitions to establish the existence of a relationship. Then, once approved, our petitions and all documents submitted are forwarded to the National Visa Center for further processing. As you are aware, the next phase is the embassy approval with required medical examination and interviews. Unfortunately, many of us have not moved past the first step because there have been no updates sent to us. In particular, many of us are still waiting for NOA2 from the Vermont Service Center (VSC). Please see attached spreadsheets. While the California Service Center seems to be processing petitions at an increasingly rapid rate, VSC is months behind. Why is there such a major difference between these two processing centers? Are there more adjudicators at CSC? Moreover, some petitions that are received months after others are processed faster. When questioned about this inequity, telephone operators at the USCIS give a standard response: “It depends on the case; each case is adjudicated differently.” Then when we ask about our individual petitions on behalf of our qualifying relatives, we receive the generic, “We’re within our processing time.”

For many of us, the entire process thus far has proven to be quite discouraging. We cannot get accurate, specific responses to our inquiries, nor do we receive the “first in, first out” treatment we were promised. Hence, we need and request your assistance. Perhaps an inquiry from your committee will garner more substantive, more accurate responses. Perhaps there is a way to change the process, so national security is not comprised, and families are not unnecessarily separated from their loved ones indefinitely. Attached, please find a copy of NOA 1 for our petitions (I-130 and I-129F). Below, see our receipt numbers given by USCIS. It is with great respect for your charge on this committee that I, along with many others, request your inquiry into this matter. Hopefully, all of us will receive the NOA2 and continue positively on the path of reunification with our family members. Equally, we hope that others will benefit from our proactive measures and their processing time will be much shorter and more humane.

Respectfully yours,

This week I received the replies from my senate and congressman for the fax I cc them on Monday (the igor's spreadsheet and the letter here in this thread forwarded by Krystle + Tiago). but no response from United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, & Border Security (I guess they just forward to my own senate? and hopefully the USCIS).

still the online status was updated on June 26,2008

And i can't even schedule a infopass now with my local USCIS field office. (https://infopass.uscis.gov Washington Field Office "The week of December 15, 2008 through January 2, 2009 this office will have a limited amount of scheduled INFOPASS appointments. " At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later. unbelievable... i just wish someday. yes someday! i don't need to deal with this USCIS at all)

Other than that, Life is good and will go on! thanks all the vj fellow members. especially Krystle + Tiago, panterchen, kevin@anna, lili&kai. our spirit will be high no matter what USCIS did and they will have to finish processing our cases soon!!!!!!!! I wish you all good luck and great holidays!

I only got one reply from the members of the Immigration Subcommittee and they basically said that they would transfer the information to my state Senator. But I had already been in contact with them. I would suggest that you stay on top of your Senator for your state, they will probably help the most. That has been in my experience anyway. But who knows! Hopefully we will have a great Christmas present :) Now awaiting the updated processing times.....

We contacted our congressman and the two state senators last week again and we hope they will inquire about our case this week or the week after christmas so we can get NOA2 in January. Even though I am not sure that senators can do much. But at least there is hope...

I am crossing my fingers for all of us!! Merry christmas everybody! :jest:

JeffMelody; when is your infopass appointment?? ask them directly if they can tell you if you already got assigned to an adjudicator. Don't buy it if they say they don't have that information. They do!! Say something like "Oh this is strange, last time I was here the officer could actually look that up in my file" (even though you might not have been there once; but I know they do have this info)

Good luck!
