Wow!! It has been a while since I have hung out here. I hope everyone is doing well. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Ahmed really enjoyed his first Thanksgiving. Especially the banana pudding!! LOL.

I think last post I stated we were waiting for him to hear back about jobs. Neither Wal mart nor Sheraston hired him. So he went to the McDonald's in our town on October 1st and started on October 2nd. They really like him there and are wanting to make him a manager already.

We are still looking for better jobs....Last week we heard back from the University Police job he applied for...they said they could not verify his highschool education...so we faxed a copy of his High School Transcript and the Translation but they said it was not good enough they could not accept it.....he would have to go get a GED. So now I wonder if that is what made all the other jobs that sounded so promising not call him after teh interviews went so well? They just did not take the time to time us.

Anyway, he is scheduled to take the GED test on December 19th...so we are spending or free time preparing for it. Kepp us in your prayers he does well. Almost every good job here requires a GED or High School Diploma and since his High School Transcript is not good enough he really needs this GED.

Plus his plans are to go back to College next Fall and he will need a GED to get in College.

It will all work out I am sure.....Inshallah.

I am trying to get all the Christmas decorations up..ahmed is so excited about Christmas he wants every decoration I have up. I haven't decorated the outside in years.....LOL

My tree is prelit and I have had it 6 years and never had any problems but of course this year wehn I pull it out it has 4 to 5 branches that the lights are not working....so I have to test almost all the bulbs before I find the culprit and get the tree lit. However, I did suceed and do have the tree decorated. This weekend I will decorated the den and the outside...yay!! it is suppose to be soooooooo cold and Ahmed will be working so it will be me all by myself having to freeze to do it.. But I am sure in the long run to see him enjoy the decorations will make it all worth it.

I have such a wonderful husband I could never not decorate for him.

So how has everyone been? I see there are alot of newbies since I left. Welcome all newbies to VJ. It is a great place.

Well I am at work so I guess I better run....it has been very slow today for a Friday but I have a few things to do before time to go home. My Daughter will be home from college so we will get to relax for some mother daughter time since Ahmed will work until 8 tonight. (Maybe I can convince her to help with the Christmas Decorating.....LOL yeah right!!!)

Best wishes to all.

Hey Cheryl!

I'm sorry I didn't see this!! I normally just look in the MENA forum. It's good to hear that the two of you are doing well. Everything is going good on our end. My husband landed a temporary seasonal position at a warehouse that fills internet orders for a local department store. He finally got his drivers license and seems to be gaining some independence. He may be going back to EG this winter. It all depends on if the warehouse keeps the temporary workers longer or not. He would love to go home and spend a month or two with the boys and I think this would be the best time to do it.

He hasn't experienced any issues with his educational background as far as asking for a high school degree. I believe it is because he has a Bachelor of Law degree transcript so they have never asked for the high school diploms. Jobs are rare her in our part of the country. We have so many people losing jobs and looking for jobs with the local GM closing and that trickle down effect. I do pray that one day he finds that job that he really enjoys and makes decent pay.

Please keep in touch! It is really good to hear how things are going with you and your husband. I pray it continues to go well. Call me sometime!

Tasha

Ahmed had his college transcript for his Law Education also. However, he did not complete the Law degree so maybe that is why he is having difficulty. He only had one year left or five tests left he said but he was afraid if he finished them they would make him stay and do two years of military befroe he could come to me.

Anyway, at least we are together during the set backs and not apart.

I am so happy to hear things are going good for you and your hubby. Hope you had a Happy EID.

I will try to call you later .....maybe this weekend.

Hi Cheryl

My husband is celebrating his first Christmas here and arrived a week before Thanksgiving (something I am really thankful for)

He is learning the Christmas traditions too bad most of it is so commercial and materialistic

He has been very helpful in decorating not only for Christmas but just around the house in general

so i always find things rearranged and moved around

It is hard when I have my own way to let someone else take over but somethings I let him do it his way

and other things I just cant change but all in all I am glad to have someone to share it all with.

Good Luck to you and Merry Christmas

We are still waiting for the greencard to come and then we'll see what happens with a job.

I dont think he has any kind of school records...I hope we can just get him doing something...anything to start
