The word "but"

Yes, it I, the one who implores you to think and feel.

The word "but".

Here, check this out:

I love you but...

That outfit looks great but...

Blah blah blah but...

Listen, what I'm saying is this:

the word "but" erases everything you just said.

It negates it.

Sounds dramatic though, hee, hee...how most people use it usually said in a louder and more pronounced tone of voice.

Try it and see for yourself.

There are very few times that that word is actually necessary and it where it fits.

Let me know what you think.

Sometimes BUT not always............ The outfit looks great BUT it would even look nicer with different shoes !

"but" is one of the Dead Words my students aren't allowed to use. In fact, we made a graveyard of such words recently and they had to come up with five better words or phrases to use instead. We have tombstones and the alternatives all over my classroom

Other choices: however, nonetheless, however, except, yet, indeed, on the contrary....

Try using the word "and" and see how that actually works...almost all the time!
