Hi everyone,

My fiance from London just found out he has an interview scheduled for Dec. 15th (this was quicker than we anticipated). He is supposed to leave on the 18th to come visit me in TX. We don't want him to get his Visa before he comes because we don't want to get married until May. I hope I am making sense!

Has anyone had to reschedule an interview before? It says on his letter he received that appointments will only be rescheduled for urgent reasons......

Thanks!

Amy

It's not worth trying to reschedule. You can still plan on a June wedding, if he comes to the U.S. within the 6 months after the visa is issued. Once he is here, you have 90 days to get married.

but can he still come visit me in tx for christmas? this is what i am worried about.

He'll have to leave his passport for the K1 to be put in, he's not likely to have it back in 3 days and then he'll be entering for his Xmas holiday (assuming he delays the flight) on his K1. It's nigh on impossible to use a WVP, since the whole idea of a WVP is that it waives the need for a visa, which he technically has.

Even if you do a JP quickie, he then would need to file for immediate AOS and emergency AP which isn't going to be granted over the Xmas holidays, if at all, for a non-urgent travel.

Call the embassy, explain the situation, you can't be the first.

Call the embassy and reschedule, it seems like it's fairly easy to schedule interview dates for a later time, it's scheduling them sooner that is difficult.

Is it that easy? I've searched old posts about rescheduling and they have been mixed. Some say absolutely do not and some say it's ok.........

Is it that easy? Call the embassy and find out... and then let us know. It really should be that easy, the down side is rescheduling the interview, may put it months down the road or something, but I'm sure that if you ask about rescheduling they aren't going to suddenly decide to punish you or anything, if rescheduling the interview isn't really possible they'll tell you so. It seems like there is some limit on how far back they'll reschedule to too though, so there are limits, but like I said, call and ask, it's that simple.

Personally if I was in the situation I'd say screw christmas, reschedule the tickets to after the interview, and go that route, but you should be able to do what you are wanting instead.

Hi, I don't know about the consulate in UK, but I have a similar case, I am supposed to get my NOA2 sometime in January and maybe get an interview date by april, But my fiance is working until april 30th so we don't need the visa until some time in May, I called the Rio de Janeiro consulate, and ask them if a re-schedule is possible and they said that is Ok. Like somebody said here, call the consulate and find out. That is your best bet.

Good luck, and congratulations!

It's easy to reschedule the interview in Croatia. Shouldn't be much different elsewhere. Contact the Embassy and ask. (I called and got the information that way, while at the same time another VJ member from Croatia managed to reschedule it with no problems at all, too)

I would imagine London to have a bit more of a backlog than many other Consulates.

Quite possible, but I really don't know!

Here in Croatia, I am fairly sure, not many people come to the Embassy for a K-1 (or any other immigrant/almost-immigrant) interview all that often. At the same time, those are being held at the same windows, conducted by the same COs, as any and all visitor/student/work-related visa.. yet you can reschedule, or even get an appointment the same week (if not sometimes the same day) you visit the website.

I don't know. Just contact the Embassy to make sure. =)
