Tragic Marriage Proposal

My husband was reading news from Yahoo tonight while I was preparing dinner. It was about a woman swept to the sea during a proposal in Oregon. The most shocking to us is that the woman is a Filipina and just arrived from the Philippines carrying K1 visa. Read the news on this link:

I felt sorry about the sad fate of that Filipina woman. My sympathy to her family and love ones who are at lose of her sudden and senseless death..Though, not yet conclusive if she really died but I am one of those who are hoping she survived it...Miracle works, as they call it.. I am just confused with that proposal made here in US (Oregon). The fact that she came over here in US with a k1 visa; it was presumed that there was a proposal made by that American guy in the Philippines and agreement between them for a marriage...How many marriage proposal should a guy make to his woman?

I am just pissed off with that American guy. At his age, I guess he should be matured and responsible enough and consider the safety as one of his topmost prioties other than romantic atmosphere for a place where he can propose. I think he knew or he is more familiar with that place better than that Filipina woman (his fiancee). Of all the places, why he had to propose there? Where is his common sense? I doubt it's not functional!

I feel so bad about this incident. This happened last week and yes it was very unfortunate. A freak accident.

What's so bad about how this story came to my and my SO was because it was his ex-wife who sent him the link through email with a line saying: Karma is a b*tch..

Stupid ignorant b*tch! How could someone be happy for such a tragic death? No wonder she's now called "the ex". She's out of her mind.

To the family: My condolences. May she rest in peace.

Just read the link and yeah there are people who are judgmental about Filipinas marrying Americans. Honestly speaking, if only I have a choice, I prefer to live in the Philippines than here. However, my husband lives here. Wherever he will be, I will be there also. Coming here is a huge sacrifice, but love involves sacrifice. Whether we like it or not, there are people who judge us the wrong way. Can't do anything about it.
