i like the compass. the commander is ugly. abd the compass is 28mpg, if it's to drive every now and then it's the best choice.

My sister totaled her brand new Grand Cherokee Laredo with a Hemi only 9 days after she got it, remember? I'm not getting another one of those near our house

I'm still open to more suggestions people :) I won't be deciding for a few weeks.

I like these:

porsche.jpg

BMW-X6.jpg

mercedes_benz_ml350.jpg

I do too but this is a second car that I will only drive a few times a month. At times I may throw money around like it's nothing but buying one of those to drive a few times a month is quite silly to me.

You can probaboy find a used Hummer for the price of the Commander.

someone told me to get a hummer last weekend...those are too big...i'd feel like i was driving a freaking airplane or something :P

I bet you could get a killer deal on a used Hummer now. I saw a 2005 H-2 with 50,000 miles on it for $20,000 a few months ago. It would eat that dirt road for lunch.

If money was no object I'd get the Range Rover HSE

range_rover_sport_limited.jpg

But I'd be happy with a Nissan Xterra

I have been driving my Subaru Forester for a while and it can handle all the tasks of the usual SUV and still gets 28 mpg on the highway. There are lots of pseudo-SUV's out there, but when it comes to towing the manufacturer doesn't recommend it. No problem with the Forester. It's a good all around AWD SUV that can handle the rough stuff. It can definitely handle the boonies.

so if I wanted to hook a trailer up to it and pull my 4 wheelers it wouldn't be a problem?

I tow a boat with the Forester and it doesn't even faze it. No problemo.

I don't know anything about the Jeep Commander, but if it is a front wheel drive SUV then towing could be a problem. Even if the Commander is AWD, what kind of mileage does it get? It's hard to beat the Subaru's 28 mpg hwy mileage. That is what sold me on it.

HI

I like the Forester. It has good looks, and is a good car. Subaru are damm good cars.

So I agree with you..you just can't go wrong with that.
