Germany Packet 3 ?'s

Hello everyone. I've searched and searched on here but haven't found any answers...

My fiance has recieved Packet 3 from the Frankfurt embassy and is finalizing his preparations. The instructions are a bit confusing however...on one part it says to send back only DS-230 and the checklist.. on the other it says to send back everything. Even the guide on here is confusing: it says to send back all the forms, then at the bottom of that part of the info it says only to send back DS-230 and the checklist. Bah!

So.. my question to anyone who's been through this recently: what did you ACTUALLY send back to the consulate? We just want to make sure we send back the right ones.

Thanks a bunch!

p.s. the guide says the wait time is about 1 month for an interview - is that accurate still?

local procedures vary greatly and it is impossible to write a guide covering all variations.... when information in the guides contradict what is indicated by the consulate... always go with what the consulate says....

YMMV

when i got packet 3 back in 2007 i just sent back ds-230 and the checklist, thats what they need to get your fiances file started and give him an appointment. i dont know if there were any changes since then. if not he should keep all other documents and bring those with him to the interview.

as far as waiting time for the interview, im not quite sure how long i had to wait but on the checklist it asks for estimated travel date, i put down a date when i would like to leave and also gave them a date after which i would like to have the appointment due to work reasons!

Thank you for your replies!

Just to clarify - The information that was given to us by the CONSULATE is what is confusing. On the checklist they give us it says contradicting things, which is why we wanted to know what other Germans have done since there is only the one consulate in Germany doing these.

My thought from all I've read has been to just send back the checklist and the ds-230... so maybe we'll do that. Perhaps I should go ask this in the German people thread?

Thanks!

Mindy
