Hey, I am filling my I-485 and I-130 and I have a question about my middle names.

I have two middle names, the first one I use and it appeals on my ID, Passport and SS card, the second one I never used and it only appears on my birth certificate. My question is do I list my second middle name on my form as “other name used” or not? Any help would be great, thank you.

Seems to me that your full name includes both middle names, as your ID/documents seem to indicate. That is not another name used - it is your name!

I think you can also put it on other name used like I did on mine. Good luck!

I think that you should put both names if they are on your birth certificate or other identification documents UNLESS you have legally changed your name to include just one middle name. I'm sure either way it's not that big of a deal though, but you mind as well put everything.

I have 3 middle names as well and I dont use any of them on my ID but I did put them all in the application under middle name since they are on my birth certificate.

I don't know if this makes sense but... can you put the name you usually use on the first line and then put the name that appears on your birth certificate (the entire name) on "Other names used".

Here's a link to the FAM. Look under 9 FAM Appendix F: 600 Guides on Proper Names and Name Citing.

http://foia.state.gov/REGS/fams.asp?level=2&id=10&fam=0#41

I don't know if that helps but maybe you can find some information about your situation in the above link.

Good luck! :star:

i have 2 middle names (including a hyphenate) and i put them all on the forms, squeezing them in as best i can (thanks Mom & Dad). i don't use the 2nd one often because it rarely fits, but its on my birth certificate and passport so i am definitely including it.
