What has happened to the mentality and humanity of some of you? Were any of you thinking along the same lines when the abortion clinic bomber was captured? Or Timothy McVeigh? We've had a long line of criminals who have been caught after doing some of the most heinous crimes - should we torture them? I'm with Paul Daniels on this....the kind of mindset towards torturing another human being is baffling...and troubling. And for the God fearing religious types - where in your holy book does God say to torture someone?

ding ding ding..... we have a winner. Islamic terrorists are being verbally abused, you don't like it so you bring up Tim McVeigh and abortion clinic bombers. Tim was executed!!!!!! He got more than 'truth serum'. Which abortion clinic bomber?

We get it. Islamic terrorists are misunderstood Emo freedom fighters. Want me to shed a tear?

No don't shed a tear...but say goodbye to your humanity.

And say hello to your guilt. Enjoy.

Like I said, some people confuse vengeance for justice. Embracing vengeance is the easy way out....it takes strength and reserve to not resort to violence in the form of torture because of someone's heinous and cowardly acts of violence. And with terrorism, the conventional wisdom is that when we do so, we turn them into martyrs...boosting their recruitment. Show the enemy that you aren't the evil beast they really think you are and you've just made it difficult for them to find people and recruits to join their cause.

Steve, Go to Pakistan and offer hugs to all the bad people. I'm sure they'll be nicer to us afterwards. Just make sure your life insurance is up to date.

I bet if these guys were Christian terrorists your attitude would be different.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Justic, Rich...justice. That's what I'm talking about. What you are advocating is vengeance. Two different concepts.

Compassion for this animal?

"He described the 21-year-old suspect as someone who would go unnoticed, with a criminal record in Pakistan for only petty theft. But he said Kasab is a cold-blooded killer.

Kasab told police investigators that he shot a small boy and, because he was crying, "He shot him again, and killed him, to shut him up," Maria said."

Vengeance is closure. Vengeance is justice.

We're not talking rehabilitation here. We're talking punishment. What is punishment, if not vengeance?

Vengeance and justice are two different concepts. I'm not sure why there is even a confusion about the difference.

Rich, I think you are smarter than this. We're talking about justice vs. vengeance. Torture is not justice...it is vengeance. Got it?

Split hairs all you want, but when we put terrorists to death or bomb their camps from the air, it's a bit of both. They don't attack individual people, they attack a society. And when we put them to death and torture them, we do so not merely to punish but to exact vengeance as well.. on behalf of not just the specific victims of their attacks but no behalf of the society they attacked.

For someone who is captured and rendered defenseless, then any acts of violence toward them at that point is vengeance. It's really not that difficult to see the difference.

Vengeance is precisely what they deserve. What do you want to do, rehabilitate them?
