What's the bet India does not have idiots crying about the Patriot Act. Then again not to many nations do. Yes even by those who where not attacked.

If you want to live in a country where its routine to beat someone half to death in custody and pull out their fingernails to obtain a forced confession - and subsequently hang them in a sports stadium you might want to consider moving to one of those high-quality of life, freedom loving countries like Libya, Iran or Saudi Arabia where such things are commonplace.

What do you suggest, pamper the guy with the finest food and wine? Let him go? Believe whatever he tells them? Beat him until they get the anwer they want? Investigate whatever information he provides? Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

It is contradictory. What can be done about it? Today we have major incidents of terror, how do you get to the bottom of it? Playing by the rules doesn't work, and torture doesn't work.

What has happened to the mentality and humanity of some of you? Were any of you thinking along the same lines when the abortion clinic bomber was captured? Or Timothy McVeigh? We've had a long line of criminals who have been caught after doing some of the most heinous crimes - should we torture them? I'm with Paul Daniels on this....the kind of mindset towards torturing another human being is baffling...and troubling. And for the God fearing religious types - where in your holy book does God say to torture someone?

The question is surely with whether the methods employed in interrogations are actually effective (which should surely dictate whether or not they are necessary).

How can you protect your own or foreign citizens by doing things that don't work? Is it to actually "protect" people and extract useful information or is it simply about creating an impression that this is the case?
