I don't think so.....I think people should only have opinions I agree with. If they don't then I get in arguments and have a headache.

That's a shame. I wonder first of all, how it was found out that he actually ate a cookie, unless that person was counting their cookies.

My guess is he confessed he did, not realizing what a big deal the school nazis were gonna make of it.

Well, I could see that if he was asked that he might be so inclined to confess, but what did he do-run around saying I ate a cookie? I mean someone would have had to be asking about it, meaning they are keeping a little too close watch on their cookies, IMO. And I would agree with the sentiments of whomever said "deny, deny, deny." Unfortunately, honesty doesn't often pay off and liars get by while honest people suffer the consequences of their actions. Not a good way to encourage integrity, if you ask me.

If the person who took the cookies didn't want anyone to touch them, then he/she should have hid them or put a tag on the jar statng who did they belong to....

Poor kid!

You have to keep a close eye on them or else you might lose your cookies.

That's a harsh punishment, but then we don't know why the school has such a harsh code.

I'm sure the kid and the parents knew that taking or vandalizing school property would lead to suspension and revocation of privileges. I'm all for people taking responsibility for their actions even when they are that young. Of course it was just a cookie, but you can almost be certain that the parents would make the same stink if it had been the laptop computer.

Well you may be right Fisch...I guess we'll never know. But I think a cookie is QUITE a stretch from a laptop computer...I know if this were my son, I would be IRATE if they did this over a cookie, but I would irate with my SON if it were a laptop....and would tell him he got what he deserved. big difference there. Some parents do defend their kids even when they are in the wrong..that's not me at all, but I'm just sick of this petty business at school. SOME of them really need to get a life and see what they COULD(and better not...speaking for my house..just saying!!) be doing! M.

I doubt the kid really sat there and deliberated...or even thought.."im gonna steal this cookie!!!" he likely just thought "mmm a cookie..I'm havin' one!"

he knocked over the cookie jar and was tempted while putting them back in in. So he said he took one. I think the reaction to that should be a giggle, not an expulsion. That is insane. I would be tempted by freefalling cookies too. And I'd have left a note saying "couldn't resist - will replace tomorrow" He's too young to know better, but his initial reaction to tell was correct. Now they've ruined him. He could have not said a thing and no one would have known.
