Correct me if I am wrong (which happens often, I admit!) but isn't hemp differnt from cannabis? Hemp is the fiberous plant that is good for rope, paper (like the constitution is written on), cloth (itchy stuff) etc., and cannabis is a cousin/weed that is smoked, cooked and so on.??

So the statement "casts doubt on the theory that the ancients only grew the plant for hemp in order to make clothing, rope and other objects." would be?????

I think that marijuana and hemp are each types of cannabis plants.

Today we can grow hemp that only has trace amounts of THC. In the past there was no need to differentiate. There might have been strains they grew for 'medicinal' purposes and others for their fiber. Just like some cows are for milking and others are for eating.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Oh yeah, that species and whatever it was classification system I was SUPPOSED to learn in college!

Okay - so the hemp plant by my house with the purple blooms is the plant that was/grown for the fiber and what this article is referring to is the stuff of "Reefer Madness"! (Gotta love that classic!)

I learned something today! Thanks! :wow:

I'm thinking the next news story we hear about this will be something like,

"Kosovo man from Maryland attempts to steal 2700 year old weed.

He may have gotten away with it, but instead of leaving after the theft,

the man decided to have a smoke and start chatting on an internet forum".

I wonder if the bud could get grandfathered in? It was grown and cut before it became illegal.

I'm also wondering if fermantation helps the THC become stronger...or if it just tastes like #######.

I say we get together a team from VJ to go and investigate this phenomenon personally, and put the questions of the V members to rest forever. What we need:

One baggy, containing 2lb of dried oregano.

Running shoes, for when the team need to GTFOT.

That should do it. And a nice fast car.
