My friends dad who has a green card was stopped while travaling. He doesnt speak english, and was asked how much money he was traveling with. The customs agent took him to another room and they counted his money, he had 10,800$, 800$ over the legal limit. They made him sign a paper and told him to catch his flight. Does anyone know what paper this is, and whatreprecussions if any would there be on his green card status?

There is no legal limit on how much money you can bring through customs. However, all amounts of $10,000 or more have to be reported. The paper he signed was probably related to that.

It will not have any effect on his green card status.

i'm still trying to figure out how this is a "bad airport experience"

overall, it sounded like things went pretty well, all things considered.

I'd heard that there were sensors in Customs that (based on the metallic inserts in money) could tell

when you're bringing in large quantities of cash. That's why I try to travel with an enterouge...give each of them

$9K and there's no problem

good thing they didn't keep it and claim he was a drug dealer

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
