I hope everyone realizes that the director really does not have much to do with your petitions being processed, about as much as the head of McDonalds has to do with how fast you pick up your order at you local restraunt Not much. Also new directors can change processes to speed things up but usually a change results in things slowing down until the workers get use to the new way of doing things, and on top of that to make changes it can be months or years before they go into effect you have to realize this is the goverment and change does not happen fast. Any changes they try to make today well not show up for a long long period of time. There are some things they can not change like the background checks where is required by law via homeland security. They maybe be able to speed things up after a time in this area but most security checks can be done in aroun 15 minutes to half a hour and thats being generious. The only snag is when the get a hit, it can take some time and investigating to clear those up but I still think this is not the major hurdle, the biggest thing is just getting the pettions to the workers to process and hopefully they will figure out a way to do them in order, it seems VSC jumps all over the place approving petitions, the speed of the worker processing the petition once they are working on it makes a difference to. Some are fast some are slow, some new all this effects how fast they work and we are the ones that have to wait which is the most diffucult part. Good luck to everyone and just remember dont put to much importance on the change of directors, it really has about as much effect as for having a new queen or king of England.

We can hope that the next appointee as head of Homeland Security will provide the necessary leadership to USCIS. Putting a retired military officer in charge of USCIS was a mistake. The place needs to have someone with experience in shaking up bureaucracy.

Yeah we already went through this. They stripped off half of the thread. Funny thing is the still allowed this to remain:

"If you really think the process of bringing someone over to this country should be somewhere on the same playing field as whipping up hamburgers and slinging them out the window, then that's 95% of YOUR problem with the Service."

So basically if you've been on this site for years, TOS doesn't apply to you. Anyway, 99% of this site is good for information. Just a few people use it as their chance to do who knows what. It's kinda disappointing the way this one went down. So my advice is don't anger anyone here that has been around awhile even if you don't agree with them, and you'll be fine.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

So I've noticed... pretty sad day when you can't disagree with others without having your posts deleted, especially when I see other posts on VJ that border on vulgarity, racism, sexism, and hate, and they don't get deleted. Oh well.

A disagreement in principle is not a TOS violation. And the only thing that having been on this site for years gives a person is a longer learning curve into how the immigration process works.

Sitting around bellyaching about the length of time it takes to bring a loved one here is nothing new. None of you are alone in your delays. I'm fairly sure you'll find it difficult to believe that I wish none of you were going through these delays and that in a perfect world I wish all of you were approved and reunited. But that wish would spoil my image in your mind of someone who is a 'spokesperson' for the service - someone who doesn't know what you are going through because I didn't suffer it myself.

I don't have an entitlement mentality and I don't believe my government owes me diddly squat when it comes to immigration. It's not a constitutionally protected right. It's not even something a lot of Americans think we need - in case you've been asleep at the wheel for the last seven years, there's a boatload of Americans who think the US would be a whole lot better off if we never admitted another alien.

Do I wish the Service was more efficient? Yes. Do I think they could serve its customers better? Yes. Do I think that because I paid my money to them, I'm entitled to what I want when I want it? No. Do I think things will never improve? No, because believe it or not there have been improvements.

The sooner you realize that this is the process; that it is what it is; that it is the ONLY way for you to get what you want; then you'll be less stressed out. It's really that simple.

My goal was to allow this thread to remain open so that members could discuss the resignation of the director, but it looks like that is not going to happen. This thread is in the immigration news forum and it is really not the place for continued bickering and what were some pretty childish insults, REGARDLESS of what was said that offended you.

Too late now. Thread locked for TOS violations.
