I am a classic example of Murphy's law....

We got a ref on our AOS ...... NVC wanted the 2008 W2, but my hubby is positive that he had sent it with the package......

Anyways we are going to send it again......

Hard Luck...But I am learning to live with it.......

Aman,

Did you file taxes for 2008 already? I have not yet filled my taxes for 2008 and NVC told me that I could send in 2007, 2006 & 2005 tax transcript.

Should I send 2008 W2?

I am planning to send following along with my AOS package:

  • Tax Transcript from 2007, 2006 & 2005
  • W2's from 2007, 2006 & 2005
  • 1040 form all pages from 2007
  • All pay stubs from 2008
  • Employment letter from employer

mindmaster, this is more than enough! you should be fine with these documents.

Aman - I am surprised you have been asked for 2008 W2. they have clearly mentioned that until april 15, they will accept the stuff from 2007 and you do not have to provide 2008 docs.

by the way, where is DesiMan...i am curious to see what is going on with his case...i hope he is doing fine..

We actually had a super goof up....Hubby to be on safer side sent his W2.....so the NVC logic is if you have the W2...please send your Tax returns for the year....So thats the Ref.....and he is busy filling his tax return and getting the docs........

SO I guess....DON'T SEND YOUR W2 if you HAVE NOT FILLED YOUR TAX RETURN

HTH

CMNB

When are you off to Chandigarh....Enjoy your stay....keep us posted on your interview progress......Even I am leaving for Patiala o Wednesday will be back on 19th Feb.....

Hope you get a Early march Interview

Aman, you mentioned that, you have an REF requesting your 2008 W2 form. so, I figured I should sent my 2008 W2 form to avoid having the same REF. you next post you posted that, the reason of you REF was sending 2008 W2 form, which is contradicting you prevous post!!. I am so worried they will ask me for 2008 returm because I sent them the 2008 W2 form. So, I am thinking to call NVC today and ask them to disregard 2008 W2 form, or consider it as a proof of current employment. any Ideas?

God Pless You all.

Thanks

I have a question. I am planning to accompany my husband's interview at new delhi embassy. I just ready on new delhi's website that US consulates do not allow interested parties such as friends and relatives to attend interviews. Does anybody know if it's true. Would a spouse be allowed to attend interview as this shows more proof of a bonafide marriage.?

DO NOT SUBMIT 2008 W2 IF YOU HAVE NOT FILLED YOUR INCOME TAX RETURN.

If you have already submitted 2008 W2 then try to file your income tax return so that you have 1040's if a RFE is generated.

Meet,

Try to submit all proof of relationship to VFS because the interviewing officer does not look at these evidence during interview.

PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP: We strongly suggest that all applicants bring extensive documentary evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and the primary beneficiary and between the primary beneficiary and any derivative beneficiaries. Failure to do so could greatly delay your application while your application is investigated. Some examples of such evidence

are family and other photographs (old and recent) showing the parties together, letters, cards, correspondence, and telephone records

I am still waiting for my IIN they will not give it to me over telephone. IVR says it was mailed on 1/29/2009 -- still in transit.

Thanks for ur reply mindmaster

I will tell my husband to try to submit proof of relationship at VFS. I don't if they will take it though. I read somewhere that VFS does not accept proof of relationship. By the way, for proof I have phone records. I used airtel and reliance. So, I have airtel phone records. My regular phone bill does n't show my husband's number. I also have itineraries and credit card receipts for three trips that i took to india last year. pics with him and his family. His name as beneficiary for life insurance at work. I do not have any chat records or email proof as we talk at least couple of times a day by phone. Other proof is affidavits from family members. i will take wedding albums to interview, all three of em. u know how big indian wedding albums are. My whole family from usa attended the wedding. i hope this will be enough prof. I am just driving myself crazy.

This is pretty ridiculous...If you aren't even allowed to present the proof during the interview and are subsquently rejected on the grounds for not having this prooff- ####### is the point?? It DEFEATS the purpose of an interview...

If VFS accepting "Proof of Relationship" docs is questionable, perhaps it's a good idea to submit the proofs (emails, photos, phone bills, affidavits etc) over to the NVC when submitting the supporting docs alongside DS230. THis way they will surely forward them over to the embassy and the interviewing officer has all the evidence beforehand.

Thoughts??

I checked thru the automated system and they haven't gotten mine yet, tho it was only approved Dec 1st, heh

Same here...I've been calling like six times a day to check in the AVR. I even went through an operator yesterday who seemed pretty annoyed (and I don't blame her) that I am inquiring about a case approved on Dec 1. :) hey...I welcome a week long wait (hopefully) compared to the gruesome 9-month-ever-increasingly-painful wait at the USCIS's fine facilities at Vermont Service Center.

hi,i just want to ask if what happens nx?i just mailed my ds3032 last feb 2 and paid also an aos fee bill.how long can i wait to have my visa with me to fly to usa...im so excited cause ive been waiting it for almost 11 years now.what will i do to chek it to nvc?

From the post below I think you can get into the US Embassay but I am not sure if they will let you attend interview.

(trinket @ Oct 15 2008, 11:38 PM)

As a petitioner you can be with your fiance's side, but its best to email consulate and take permission from them, so if the guard tries to stop you, you can show the return email.

As a USC, you have a right to enter the consulate. You show them your passport and they will not stop you. Whether you can be present at the interview will depend on the CO. In theory, the Consulates should encourage both parties being present coz that helps better to determine if the relationship is bonafide (as told to us by the DOS). Daniel was in the waiting lounge while I went to the counter for my interview, but the fact that he was there helped a lot coz they gave me a 221g for not submitting enough evidence (I had a signed receipt from VFS saying they received all docs that the CO was saying I did not submit). CO did not think it was necessary to answer my questions coz I was the 'alien fiancee'. Daniel raised hell and they actually reversed the 221g and took it back. I got my visa the next day. So just be there whether they let you be with the beneficiary or not. All the best to both of you

Aman hopefully you will get your interview date in March and then once you come here and get SSN you both can file a joing tax return. The tax bracket on Joint tax is less. I am in the same situation and I just did it both ways (Married filing sapetately and jointly) ....the difference was almost several grand...that is a hell lot of money specially in this kind of economic slow down.

My wife is from Jammu and she will be going to Ludhiana for medical and Jalandhar for VFS.

Good luck guys.

Cases approved after you, AOS generated yesterday and paid for (I got to know it by getting the IIN beforehand and checking online. Just e-mailed 3032 this morning)

Yes, I meant November! Thanks.

I have all my paper together too. I was hoping that the Choice of Agent and the AOS Fee bill would be generated by now. Back to waiting - except this wait will be much shorter than the last!!!

charisma...buddy..please update your timeline. it helps us gauge the expected wait between different processes.

This is exactly my dilemma. I hope embassy doesn't ask for 2008 taxes. I want to file after my husband gets here, so we can file jointly and save some money.
