Can't vote for some reason right now but yes...

I have.....

about 15 pounds. Sigh.

I attribute this to sitting on my butt and not doing anything.

We eat pretty healthy, it's just my total lack of movement.

I'm joining weight watchers again.

I have too - it fluctuates between 15 and 20 pounds:-(. Part of it is the change of exercise - we live all one floor and back in Canada I always had loads of stairs to climb multiple times a day. I also walked a lot more - Joe occasionally goes for a walk but he walks slowly so it really isn't much of a walk. I really do need to get into a good exercise habit but I am lazy. The food thing though - yes, sizes are different, and you really have to look out for HFCS. I end up eating less fruits and vegetables here than back in Canada for some reason. Having to cook for Joe makes a difference - I used to be able to make a meal out of just a salad but he wants more, so then I end up eating more too. I don't like how I am feeling and I don't like how my clothes fit anymore. I definitely need to lose 15 pounds. I did weight this much one before and the Atkins diet worked really well - I didn't have type 1 diabetes then so I don't know how that will impact it. Sometimes food is just medicine and you have to eat when you don't want to and can't eat when you do depending on what blood glucose readings are.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I gained over 25lbs since getting here... :crying: I had a very active job before, and I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Where we are, a car is needed to do anything but meander through the subdivision. Plus I have PCOS, and whats in my food really matters, because the sugars and carbs really do me in, and I wasn't as careful when I first got here and put on the majority of the weight. The food combined with a lot less activity = more padding. Working hard on getting it off now.

Hi Everyone,

Lol...as I answered this poll (by the way, my answer was "yes"), I thought to myself, "gee do I feel fat", as my weight situation is as follows since I've been here in the USA for the last 2-3 years or so. As you can see, it's very "up and down" and my weight varies, depending on the situation:

-Lost 10 lbs, with help of my boyfriend/husband, as we ate healthier and exercised together

-Gained 3 lbs in 1-2 weeks right before we got eloped/married

-Lost 15 lbs, again with help of my husband, eating more healthier and exercising more than before

-Gained 10 lbs, because of stress and other health issues

-Now: Am still at "gained 10 lbs", as "I'm eating for two" ;)....And yes, I do expect to gain more weight (maybe another 20-30 lbs or so) for the next few months or so...lol...

Yea see I was working at a factory in Canada so a lot of lifting and physical work. Prior to that I was in the hotel industry doing office stuff so I was eating the food there and sitting on my ###. As soon as I started working at the factory I lost SO much weight. Plus the shift work just throws your eating schedule off.

I want to get my welders license here so I can back into doing physical work, I just don't like sitting in an office. Its just not me. I like doing a man's job. :P

Donne moi une poptart!

I've lost 3 lbs! Finally the workouts start to show! This was before yesterday even! Im expecting that I'll probably weigh in a bit less because of last night/today, but I also expect to get that back in about a day.

I tried to answer the poll, and it says an error occurred? Maybe I did something wrong?

I quit smoking in June 2008, and put on a few pounds. I then relooked at my whole lifestyle, and had to make some drastic changes. Sooooooooooooooooooo

I'm eating a lot more vegetables. No sweets at all. Cutting back on my bread products. Eating much more healthy...ie. whole grains, well balanced meals, no snacking. Along with this I'm walking at least 1.5 miles after breakfast, cycling 12 miles a week, and hiking on weekends 2-5 miles.

I've lost 17 pounds in 2 months, with more I hope on the way.

This isn't about a diet, this is about life altering changes to the way I live.

Kathryn and Amanda, according to the Dr. Atkins book, the Atkins lifestyle can help with both of your problems. People with diabetes who do Atkins have actually been able to get off medications and totally normalize their blood sugars, and women with PCOS have actually had symptoms aleviated and fertility returns (alas for me, it won't grow back organs that have been removed...but that would be cool wouldn't it? ;) ) Lots of people on the Atkins forum with experience with both these conditions.

Kathryn, there's a book out for diabetics called (I think) Dr. Atkins New Diabetic Revolution (something like that). Maybe you can find it on Amazon (recently a lot of Dr. A books were on sale for 1 cent, plus shipping. I paid a whopping $4 for my copy!), or in a used bookstore. I know they have new copies at full price, so I guess it depends on your cash flow.

That's amazing Carla, truly

I had actually lost 30lbs (over 8 months) before I moved to the U.S., so the 18 lb weight gain over the last 8 months was pretty disappointing - but never mind :pop: .
