RCMP will give you one. You can also go to a local police station if you want.

As long as it states that there was a Canada Wide name search done in the CICA database then you are good to go.

I'm not entirely sure a fax would work because it needs a seal on it I believe.

ok so I called the RCMP and I guess they outsource it now to the commissioner for the letter

what i find funny is that I called the commissioner and they said it will take about 5-7 business days because they take my info - send it to the RCMP and then the RCMP sends it back

lol - classic case of the government wasting money? =p

Do we need to get a police clearance when applying for AOS?

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

I would also try your local police department. Or, they may at least be able to send to the division that does them.

I'm in Peel Region and they have one dedicated division that has a counter set up that takes all the requests and proceses them while you wait. I waited for about 30 minutes to get mine and it cost $45. There were tons of people there getting them done for their jobs, so I imagine it's pretty common in the GTA.

The police cert various all throughout Canada, even the between RCMP detachments. There is no set standard on what they look like or what the fee is! Some charge $$ , some do not! Not all local police forces or RCMP detachments provide this service. One is best to cal ahead, and ensure it states on the certificate, that the search was completed Canada wide

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
