As for the memorabilia, George W's face sold plenty of bobble heads, and backwards watches for sure.

Presidential memorabilia has been around much longer than Obama...but suddenly it's something special.

In Bush's case the memorabilia has a lot to do with the way he is regarded around the world - as a figure of fun.

Disagree. In each case, it has to do with people profiting by taking advantage of a situation.

Perhaps this is one of the sadder cornerstones of capitalism.

Well... most if not all of the GWB merchandise available for purchase has to do with Bush's image as an inept, bumbling president. Borders has an entire subsection in Humor devoted to books that poke fun at Bush.

I'm not disagreeing with Bush's image of being inept or a bumbling president, I'm just saying that the impetus of this memorabilia, in each case,

is less to praise or adversely criticize a US President, but more to do with people profiting from opportunism.

the OLDEST President, or the first woman President, or the first woman VP, or the first Gay President.

It's less about celebration, and more about profit from opportunity.

The fcukers marketing this ####### could care less about won, other than their ability to profit from it.

I'm sure the same folks that are selling this ####### were equally prepared with the McCain Palin commemorative snack trays.

The only downside to this is that it may close the Post Office and thereby delay my rush order of Barack Obama commemerative coins, plates and other keepsakes I have on order.....

I've seen the ads for the Obama coins and video from MSNBC (?) but don't forget to order your personal shrine to Obama.

I'd love to see who really orders this stuff and why.
