i am a non-immigrant work visa holder and my boyfriend is a green card holder. we are thinking of getting married in the U.S. for me to apply for a green card. i understand that i will be in a preffered relative category and we have to submit at least I-130 and I-485 which can be concurrently filed. the processing time for I-130 for a preferred relative is about 3 years and I-485 is much shorter, with that i am assuming that i will have to wait at least 3 years. my main question is: will i get a temporary permit to work and travel and be able to keep working under the same employer and travel freely before i get a GC?

The priority date for spouses of permanent residents is currently taking about 5 years (8 years for Mexico). Sending in the I-485 concurrently is only done when a priority date is immediately available which is not the case here. You will not get any adjustment of status interim benefits for work or travel. You will have no better standing than your current working visa and will need to depart the US when your current temporary stay expires.
