As part of the I-485 package it says that I need the I-693 form which is a medical evaluation.. I thought that I was supposed to send the medical part after they request it?

I am an international student on an F-1 visa seeking adjustment of status to permanent resident and currently putting together everything for the I-130 and I-485 packages.

When you're adjusting status you need to get your medical done and send it along with your AOS application. I-693 and I-864 are considered initial evidence for AOS.

Let's just say that you've sent your AOS package but you haven't included your medical evaluation (I-693) along with it. USCIS will send you a letter which is called "RFE" or request for evidence for your medical and will delay the process of your AOS. You application won't be touched and they will put it on hold until you respond to their request. Once you've sent what they asked from you, the process will be resumed to normal.
