Well, I am sure there are others who will assist you in many ways, I'll offer you a few thoughts to get started.

First, you are fortunate you live where you do, so you can avoid the painfully long approval process that many of us who are at the Vermont Service Center face. Many of us at VSC are facing 8 month waits for a K3 approval , but Vermont is by far the slowest of the service centers in processing these applications.

It is a good idea to fill out both applications at the same time, although it is I-130 you will actually need to send first. Your goal should be to get the I-129F in as quickly as you can after you receive your Notice of Action - 1 (the I-797 form USCIS will send you) on your I-130.

My best, and most basic piece of advice is this. Fill out the forms as thoroughly and as accurately as possible. Do not skip anything in the questionnaire. If something does not apply to your situation, then address it as "not applicable". Make sure you every piece of support documentation (affidavits, marriage licenses, photos, etc.) that you need to fully fill out the forms. Do not lie, and do not cut corners. If you have a question about a topic on the forms, ask someone here, and they should be able to help. All we ask is that you fill in your timelines on this website, and you will find a gold mine of people on here who will be willing to help you.

You are going to need some signatures from your spouse on the G-325a forms. Make arrangements to get those.

Also, make sure you make copies for yourself of everything you send to USCIS. Don't assume that, just because they are the government, that they are not capable of losing some, or all elements of your application. I would tell you make a special file for yourself with all of your relevant documents, and take the NASA approach of doing everything in duplicate.

There are tons of details I have not covered, but it's a start, and as you start filling out the forms, ask specific questions on items where you are unsure. Someone on this website will be able to help you. Maybe me, or one of the countless others who have walked (or are still walking) this walk.

Good luck.

Start by studying the guides here. Read carefully, interpret literally and answer accurately. Don't file an I-129. That's for a worker. You use the I-129F when petitioning for a K3 visa.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
