Address of Petitioner for DS-230

Hello,

My wife and I are DCFing in Kyiv, Ukraine. The one question I'm getting held up on in the DS-230 is question 19: Address and Phone # of petitioner. Should this be an address and phone number in the states? I have an address that is my official residence in the states but I have been living in Ukraine for 7 years now. I don't have a phone number that I can be reached at in the states... will a Ukrainian phone number be OK?

Thanks for your help,

Jamie

I put the address and phone number of where we intend to live... actually, now that I think of it, this brings up another question. My permanent address in the states is in MD, but my wife and I will be living in MA. We will be searching for an apartment upon arrival. This means that we don't know more than the city of where we intend to live. I put the address of my Uncle who lives about three hours away from where we intend to live... that address is also where we would like the GC sent. Is this the normal way of doing this?

Thanks for your response,

Jamie

I am not sure it matters but I would mirror the replies.... Wave your magic wand and now your Uncle's address is your new perm address

YMMV

you should use your address and phone number in the states. it is a requirement even if filed via DCF that the petitioner has domicile in the USA.

I lived in the Philippines for 6 years when I filed the petition and visa application for my hubby. But I still used the address in the states for the DS-230. Plus you need to use a US address when you are filing the I-864.

I understood that you should put the petitioners current address. So for us DCF folks, that means the petitioner's address should be in the country which you are living in, and not the US one.

I mean that is the address where you reside right now? I could stand to be corrected as I am in the middle of this process but that was the advice given to me by other VJers and it makes perfect sense to me.

You can wait 2 weeks until I go for my interview and I'll tell you what they say ;)

As a non-Korean, I thought getting a US tourist visa in Korea was a mission. This experience has been a whole other story. After being treated a bit like a social outcast at my B1/B2 visa interview in 2007, I'm hoping they go easy on me for my CR1 interview... details to follow.

We used our Australian address as that was where we were residing at the time

We didnt use my husband's US permanent address until the I-864, and even then we still put his Australian address as his residential address (we used his US address as his mailing address)

Thanks for the help, everyone.

neonrain, I'd be happy to wait but our interview is Friday! woohoo!

Ooo ooh best of luck then haha! I suppose you can then tell me what they accept and don't accept. Starting to have sleepless nights myself and I still have 10 days to wait :clock:

Just to make it clear, I wanted to repeat that you use your current address and info, wherever in the world that may be. There is a place for the intended US address (should be # 10 on Part 1 I think) and that is where you'd put the US info. Current residence is separate from domicile. :)
