Iran is not making it past the first round. Mexico and Portugal are moving on. Makes for nice discussion but really is a moot point. B)

Iran has one maybe two world class players. AS a team they never really face of with world cup level opponents. hey, it is a game and it has to be played, but dang, would you really bet on them advancing on? i sure would not. B)

You can have world class players or a good and harmonious team. Iran had to advance through a much more difficult qualification round than either Portugal or Mexico, giving them at least a shot at the next round. Would I bet on them getting into the next round? No, way, but the World Cup has always been good for surprises; I'm pretty certain Mexico will move on but Portugal is not a given...

I don't care who wins; I just don't see any point in putting down other teams based on the fact that they are not well known in the US, which doesn't mean much considering that most coverage is given to other sports. There are good teams on every continent and most of the teams who made it this far have a chance to get into round 2 of the cup.

I have been following world cup soccer for a while now, and what makes the world cup fun are the surprises. There are two or three groups for which it is clear which team will advance, but in most groups there are three or four teams which can make it. Group D is one of the latter, but even Angola might score a point or two...
