If I were you I'd get tax transcripts from IRS and submit them. You can get them in one day and fax them to your beneficiary.

Haole, why would he need tax transcripts from the IRS when he has already submitted to the Consulate a copy of his tax return, with all the supporting forms such as W-2 & 1099? However, he might need a TAX ACCOUNT TRANSCRIPT if the original return has been adjusted by the IRS.

For one copies of tax returns don't show you filed Tax transcripts do.

So, what you're saying is that the Consular Officer does not trust his fellow American?

sounds to me, like your over thinking this. go to your accountant show him the checks you wrote to yourself as pay or income. have him (or her) work the numbers backwards showing the taxes that was or will be taken from your income (deductions) and print you paystubs for the last 3-6 months. the more, the better. that is what I did, along with a notorized letter from employer (me). and other required documents.

ronjie,

I am an engineer and inventor so over thinking things is my way of life. To that end, this is the solution I have been looking for. I called my accounting peeps and they said they could print out the whole batch for the year and give me the stubs so I can submit them to the interviewer. It will cost me $80 but will be well worth it to get Izel over here faster.

Also, can you PM me the wording you used in your notarized letter so I can be sure I say the right thing?

Thanks for the help and suggestions from you and everyone else.

Al

Hello everyone,

Izel went to her interview today and received a pink and blue slip. The blue slip says that they need more information about my income.

I have my own business and reported $40,000.00 annual income on my I 134. I submitted 11 months of bank statements from my business. My 2007 income tax return. My W-2's from a job that I had last year and a 1099 for income from unemployment as well as income from my business. I have a contract with a customer for a retainer of $1500.00 per month which the customer gave me and I submitted along with 4 months worth of pay stubs from that customer. I also submitted one of each of bank statements from 2 different personal accounts showing a moderate amount of money in each. I also submitted my deposits into Izels account for the allowance I give her each month. I hate to be so open about this but I am really confused as to what else I can provide that will show I can support Izel.

The blue slip just says that they need more supporting evidence about my financial situation and whether I can actually support Izel or not. Izel went back to the Embassy and the person she talked to told her I needed to submit pay stubs from my employer. DUH? I called the Embassy and got the same dumb ### answers that I have always received when I have called there. "Just submit something Sir but we can't tell you what".

If anyone has any constructive information or ideas as to what the consulate might be looking for, please let me know. Thanks for the replys.

I had been self-employed for 12 years when I sent my I-134, and own my own house. I stated that on the I-134, with less income than you are reporting. I think if you are self-employed, you should send your previous two years worth of tax returns as well as the latest return. At least, that is what I did, sent three years worth of returns, and we had no problem. Later, when I filed for AOS, they just asked to see the current year, since the rest were already on file.

Would you? :innocent:

I would if all the supporting papers such as Forms W2 and 1099 and Schedules B, C, D, SE, etc. add up to the adjusted gross income on line 27 of form 1040.

Being a revenue examiner, which I am, I would be prompted to verify how the individual taxpayer arrived at his adjusted gross income. In the same manner, a consular officer might want to know a petitioner's income adjustments, if any, such as self-employment taxes, SEP retirement plan, self-employed health insurance deduction, IRA deduction, moving expenses, student loan interests, tuition and fees, alimony paid (emphasis supplied), and so on...
