Well, I have posted a lot about this in various other topics...I need to make a correction on an already filed I-129F, I filed my I-129F back in August 2008, and now I am awaiting my NOA2, but I need to change the embassy location on my I-129F for the question where it says to state where the fiance will apply for the K-1. I called USCIS and they told me to write a letter to them asking for the correction. I have heard that corrections/addendums do not always get matched up with the I-129F that was originally filed.

I would like to hear from those that were successful in sending an addendum/correction to either CSC or VSC. How did you do it and how did you find out that it was acknowledged and included in your original I-129F file?

:help:

P.S. I will also call NVC when the time comes to make sure they send my file to the correct embassy after approval, but I was thinking it doesn't hurt to try to get the correction done at USCIS.

Suggest you utilize the "very narrow" time window when your case file is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). At the instant when your case approval shows up online at USCIS, call the NVC and make the change.

Anything else would be a gamble at this stage, IMHO.

We, don't call it the misinformation line for anything. ;)

I've not once heard from anyone who sent something and actually had the changes made at the uscis (petition) stage. In fact, i've not heard of anyone ever being told that over the phone either.

If you do find someone that has, i'd be curious to know how it worked out.

good luck.

I've never heard of a successful instance of someone sending information "to file" without an RFE. NVC is the appropriate time, and even then there's no guaratee they'll do the right thing. I've heard of a few instances where the file went to the original consulate and had to be sent to the updated one from there. Good luck!

I guess we have no official confirmation that the corrections were ever made...

We had over 10 errors that our lawyers submitted on our petition. We called Vermont and all operators were busy and they automatically transferred me to the general USCIS help line... I spoke to a gentleman named Josh who told me that I needed to give him all the corrections, he took all of our changes over the phone and issued them under a service request to get matched up with our file. About a week later we did get a receipt for the service request in the mail.

It generated no touches - no other outward sign that we had done anything...

Like I said, I have no idea if the changes ever were made - but they were horrible inconsistencies on our petition... listing Nick as currently married in some spots... listing my mom as his fiancee on one form... just tons of things that we would have thought would have caused at least an RFE if it hadn't been changed.

Sorry I couldn't have given you a more definitive answer

K1 129 days to approval

K1 179 days to interview

EAD 45 days to approval

AP 45 days to approval

AOS 69 days to approval

Well you successfully received your NOA2 and are moving onto interview, so that's a good thing!

When I called USCIS, a customer service rep (California Center) just told me to write a letter regarding changing the embassy, he didn't sound so sure of himself, but I am deciding to go along with it...how do you ask for a "service request"? Just speak to the customer service rep and ask them to issue a service request for making the correction? I am glad that you got your corrections made, and your situation yet proves once again that its better NOT to hire a lawyer...as I have learned too late as well.

I called the CIS in Oct 08 to change by fiance's home address as it was filed incorrectly. The CIS rep told me to just send a letter with the correction. So I did mail the letter with reference WAC # and low and behold got the N0A2 on Thanksgiving weekend. Thank God.

They now will send all letters and documents back to you to inform you they received it.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks! This gives me a lot of hope! I will post back with an update when I hear back from CSC. I am mailing out the letter today with delivery confirmation, just gives me peace of mind knowing when the letter will be in their hands, and then hopefully I will hear from them soon!

Alright, so here is an update:

I mailed a letter to USCIS-CSC on Tuesday and it was delivered at 10:45 AM on Thursday.

Should I be expecting "touches"? Or should I just pray that they received it? Or should I be expecting a letter reply in the mail from them?

I guess I was lucky when I got an RFE. When I received the NOA 1 I called and told them that Edna's last name was spelled wrong. I was told they would correct it, but when I got the RFE it was still wrong. I sent a separate piece of paper with the name change along with the RFE info and they finally got it right. We have the NOA 2 now just waiting for Embassy in Manila I guess  Wish us luck

I wish you the best, now that you have your NOA2, hopefully the rest of the process will go much, much, faster and your SO will be with you in no time.

..and therein lies the problem.

Just because they say they are going to do it does not mean they do. Often, the mistakes remain. RFE would be a good chance to add any additional information as your response to that is likely to actually reach your file. Sometimes more than one RFE is issued so it will be your chance to address all the mistakes you are aware of at once. Seems this works much better.

This is why William suggested Embassy change be done at NVC... even then, you MUST stay right on top of them during that small window of time.

I was wondering if you had any "touches" to your case after you sent the letter with the correction. CSC already received my letter since Dec 04, but I have not had any touches to my account neither have I received a letter. Do you think it is worth calling them and asking about it?

I called USCIS today about a change of address for me (beneficiary) that was posted into VSC over 3weeks ago, we hadn't had a touch.

I was told that we would receive a letter within 45days IF they married it upto the file...big IF.

However the lady advised me to call NVC as soon as I-797 received to amend the address then to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply...

Well I hope that I get my NOA2 before the 45 days. And I will also be calling NVC ASAP as soon as I get my NOA2. Will post back with an update!

Good luck to you with your address change too, hopefully they did match our corrections up, and NVC should be easy to talk to also.
