Someone posted a question regarding TB Skin tests and Vaccination requirements...

I'm collecting all the necessary documents for the AOS package for a K-1... ugh.... I called around today to near-by Civil Surgeons to schedule an examination date. The first doctor was busy (he did 2 immigration exams per day, and the earliest scheduled date was Dec. 31. :( . I then called another doctor to which the first doctor referred me. This doctor was an immigration only doctor. He could schedule me in that day, but charged 200 for the exam (or 95 for the transcription of vaccines, and 75 for the Tb skin test). I then called another doctor who lives an hour away. She charges 175 for the exam, but only 25 for the transcription of vaccines. she then referred me toa near-by medical clinic to have my Tb skin test done and told me to bring the results to the examination (14 bucks!). Hopefully it will only cost 39 dollars + gas for the examination, not 175 or 200!

This system needs a change. The drastic variations in prices and policies are discriminatory! Everyone should love us immigrants and not screw us over!

Keep in mind they are in the business of making money not trying to help(my opinion) I think they feel that since they are the Civil Surgeon they can charge more. The best thing is to shop around and make phone calls. One of the CS closest to me was trying to charge me $300 for their service. I made a few calls around and found many other CS close by charging way less.

Its all for LOVE..

If you've had the immigration medical in your country less than 1 year ago you DON"T need the medical. Only need the vaccinations and the records transfered to a I-693.

That's correct, Haole, but what a lot of people are finding, is that the civil surgeons refuse to transcribe the vaccines without performing, and therefore charging, for a full medical.

Immigration medical check up cost me $390 + gas. It's very expensive.

I agree the system DEFINATELY needs to change, but at the end of the day, they can charge you whatever they want which is totally messed up, and I dont see this changing anytime soon. I paid about $385 for everything including blood work + gas. I am in Ohio and the closes civil surgon was like 20min away from home and the others were 45min to 1hr away, so at the time, it was way more feasable to go to the closest one because of gas prices and commute. I think you should do your examination at the eariler date possible. The other fun part is trying to find a clinic to do your required vaccations. I had to go to another city/county to get my vaccations because where I live, the health clinic did the shots, everything 1st and 3rd friday of the month for the TB I think and the other vaccation was every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, which I didnt want to wait around for and totally inconvient, but the other clinic does it every friday. Just look around.

06/13/2011.....................Biometrics appointment today @Cleveland, Ohio @11:00am (Day 23)

09/20/2011.....................Approved for 10yr green card, wooohooooo next step citizenship

I went to Concentra medical centre for my medical check up.... When I was there, the nurse referred me to get my vaccines done in our public health, since our public health is 15 mnutes away d from concentra I didn't bother of going there 'coz the charge difference between their vaccines was about $20. Besides I want my medical check up done at the same civil surgeon or centre just to avoid some errors

I had the medical before I came to the US, but I wasn't able to get all the vaccinations as they weren't available in the country where I'd been living. Thankfully the Civil Surgeon nearest to me (only 2 miles away!!) was a reasonable man, both in his attitude and his prices. Do shop around, though. It can make a huge difference. And if you only need the transcripts, why not use Dr Arnold in Austin TX? If I hadn't needed the shots then I'd definitely have done that... I spoke with them on the phone and they were extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Because she won't transcribe the new TST skin test onto the I-693, that's why. A fact confirmed to me in writing by her office just 48 hours ago.

Because there are new rules about the TB skin test since you had your medical and Dr. Arnold won't transcribe the skin test, so there's some of us who got medicals after June 1 who are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Oh Damian, I knew you would beat me.

Before I went to see a civil surgeon, I tried calling each and every office to verify if they transfer vaccine records on I693 without the whole gamut of the medical exam. Fortunately, I found one! They charged me only $45! :)

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV

Try to call them first and insist that you already had your medical exam in your country, they onlyneed to transfer the vaccine record. Goodluck!

I totally cheated and included my sealed I-693 (from Dr. Arnold) and a copy of the TST results. Now I get to wait and see if I get an RFE.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
